Let me start by saying the tech who was assigned to us was a sweetheart and had a very nice demeanor. She is the only reason I don't rate this entire experience as F's. My dog is a 14 year old Jack Russell who up until this week was extremely active and healthy. The vet we were assigned was dr Tawyna. I truely don't even know where to start, so I guess I'll start at her walking into the examination room. She immediate had a terrible attitude and an ever worse bedside manor. The first thing she said to me was i'm concerned about her and I could utheniz her for you if you'd like. Well I just about hit the ceiling. No explanation. No diagnosis. She then proceeded to tell me that she should do almost $3000.00 dollars of diagnostic testing on her liver and gallbladder before she could give me a prognosis. Which included staying in the hospital overnight, ultrasound, bloodwork, and some additional testing that I didn't even understand. I needed to understand exactly what she was recommending. I didn't have $3000.00 in my pocket. I wanted to start at the beginning and have the tests done step by step. As I began asking questions about a course of action and what would be the first step she became frustrated with my questions. The further I tried to get an explanation as to which would be the first test to do, see the results of that test first and move on to the next one until she was able to narrow down to what the issue was. That's when I finally figured out what the real motivation was. This supposed caring vetinary Dr. did not care at all about my pet. She was more concerned about the money, then the wellbeing of my beloved dog. I could continue to give you the details of my visit with Dr. Tawnay Hopkins but I think you get the jest of it. She's not at all concerned about the wellbeing of your pet. It's all about their payment. Once again the tech was a sweetheart. STEER CLEAR OF THIS DR, I WILL.

The woman who came to collect the food for the people working for the animal hospital told me she was a waitress and then didn’t tip. They paid me $4.75 to drive 10 miles. I wouldn’t let these people touch my animal if they were the only people that could help. What office orders for all of its staff and doesn’t tip. If they don’t respect the people that provide them services why would they respect the people they provide services to.

In December of 2019, a family member and I had a dog that was taken to Rossmoyne Animal Emergency Trauma Center due to being weak, distressed and not eating or drinking water. During the visit, the vet there did not take any blood tests, or any other tests (other than a quick ultrasound which wasn’t even saved on record to look at later) to determine a cause for the extreme weakness, distress or lack of appetite (had been a couple days of not getting food down and water wouldn’t stay down either). Her stomach was a little swollen. They gave medications to make her hungry, but did no further analysis of why she was doing so horrible and so quickly, when she had been fine days before. Three days later she died of cancer. Imagine dying of cancer, not being able to eat and then being given medicine to make you even HUNGRIER. That was the fate of my dog. Other veterinarians gave us their honest opinions and told us the signs of the cancer in an early stage, or at least something worth checking up on and testing, was there the day she went in. The Rossmoyne vet also made a note of a lack of blood in her tongue, and gums (we noticed this in the notes post death, we were not told during the actual visit. Lack of blood was due to her spleen having ruptured from the cancer) but did not think this was strange or any further analysis of it. Shortly after her death, we raised our concerns to the Rossmoyne Trauma Center, especially that further testing had not been done especially after her gums and tongue were noted as pink/pale, and the swelling of her stomach plus her inability to keep water or food down. Instead of being sympathetic in any capacity, we were yelled at on the phone/hung up on and one family member was sent a cease and desist from their attorney, trying to silence our legitimate and rightful complaints/concerns. Their lack of analysis, testing and overall care of our dog was outrageous. They gave no further analysis, no detailed explanation, no follow up requirement or told us to get a second opinion to signs that cancer was there. I believe she’d be alive today had we not taken them to this Rossmoyne Trauma Center. Do yourself a favor, save your pet and avoid this place.

Receptionist was not friendly. Had no sympathy for our situation. Was rude when giving us instructions. Worker yelled from the back about our dog pooping everywhere but she used extremely offensive language. We were already emotional about our dog being sick and to hear that put us over the edge. Made us wonder how our baby was being treated behind the curtain. When we spoke up to say what we heard, all we got was "I'm sorry, sir". Cost was outrageous.

They had to emergencies so I had to wait an extra 1/2 hour but I was okay with that. My little dog had suddenly shown pain symptoms, origin unknown. the veterinarian seemed to notice immemdiately upon exam that my 11 year old dog had back, spinal pain. An xray was ordered to show that she did indeed have narrowing of the T12 spinal space with inflammation. they also expressed very full anal glands and did an assessment of her heart murmur; I felt the care was "top notch" and reasonably priced.

On Sunday our cat was having trouble using her back legs. Came out of nowhere. Our regular vet was closed to we went here.
The receptionist was lovely, we were seen quickly, it was clean, and everyone's bedside manner was great. But here's the issue:
We were told by the vet that the x-rays did not show anything, and we were looking at possibly lymphoma or other cancer, more than likely neurological. The vet offered to humanely put down our cat amongst other options (extensive blood work, MRI, admittance to the hospital, etc). LUCKILY we chose a steroid injection (that might help lymphoma, we were told) and to wait to get our regular vet's opinion on Monday. THANK GOD we did this because, using the exact x-ray from Rossmoyne Animal Emergency Center (they had given me it on a CD) our regular vet showed us what looked like a obvious pelvic fracture. Our cat was in pain but will be fine.

An update- I notified the clinic at Rossmoyne about the update and what seemed like a clear and obvious miss on their part. The office manager was very professional and apologetic, but firm that this could just be a difference of opinions from one vet to another. They paid to send our cat's x-rays out for further analysis at no additional charge to us. We did appreciate that and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here. Please use caution wherever you take your fur-babies and always consider a second opinion before making any big decisions.

At approximately 7:30 in the morning, my greyhound was obviously in distress when trying to eliminate and could not be seen by her regular vet until late afternoon. A sample of her urine contained blood. I called Rossmoyne and they said to bring her over immediately. A urinalysis was done and within 15 minutes of our arrival she was examined by the vet. Dr. Zippay diagnosed a urinary tract infection, explained the results of the urinalysis and ruled out kidney stones or cancer of the bladder. Tess was resting comfortably within an hour of the injections and completely herself within a day. The follow-up visit with our regular vet a week later showed no signs of infection.

I AM SO RELIEVED TO HAVE A RELIABLE 24/7 ANIMAL EMERGENCY CLINIC CLOSE BY! The last time I had an animal emergency (before Rossmoyne was opened) I was directed to three different numbers before finally giving up.

If you ever find yourself in need of emergency care for your pet this is the place. I personally had an experience with my injured cat. I took him to the vet that had been providing his care all his life only to be turned away because and quot;we don't do emergenciesand quot;. You would be surprised how many vets are like that and people don't know it till it's too late. This one is great and open 24/7 for your pet.

NOTE: In reply to the provider's response, this review was originally submitted for the Animal Emergency Medical Center (AEMC) in Mechanicsburg. It now appears for the Rossmoyne Animal Emergency and Trauma Center per Angie's List since that facility now has the same phone number and contacts that appeared for AEMC. Therefore, it can be assumed that AEMC moved and just changed its name and this review still pertains to its actions as AEMC. A separate review was also submitted for Willow Mill Animal Hospital.

The problem here is that Willow Mill patients were automatically turned over to the Animal Emergency Medical Center (AEMC) for overnight and weekend care. This resulted in hospitalization charges from both Willow Mill and AEMC. I was told by Willow Mill staff that the charges were similar. However, while Willow Mill provided a detailed list of charges, AEMC only provided a summary list by type of charges which can easily hide overcharging. When I got a very large bill for AEMC services, I asked for specifics and never received them. AEMC did check the charges and found an overcharge of $160 (but only after I complained). Also, they charged $60 for the exact same injection that costs only $24 at Willow Mill. When I asked for an explanation why, I was not given an adequate response so I can only assume that they grossly overcharged since you had no choice when your pet was automatically switched over to them at night and weekends. During one hospitalization, AEMC charged me approximately $500 for 12 injections. The exact same injections cost me approximately $225 at Willow Mill. Only once during several hospitalizations did I ever have a vet call me from AEMC to provide an update on my dog when she was very ill. I asked for a call several other times but no one ever called even after I called them. I think the owner of AEMC was also one of the vets at Willow Mill and possibly at Gettysburg Rd Vet Center since they all seem connected by the same vets and personnel. The quality of care was hard to evaluate since all they did was basically watch the dog and give her meds/food but they made sure they charged (and overcharged) for every little service. If you do use them (now in a new locale as Rossmoyne Animal Emergency and Trauma Center), please demand a detailed list of charges (or request an estimate of charges before they do anything for you and ask questions if they seem high) and double check every bill (and compare prices to other vets). You cannot trust these people with your money and maybe also your pet.
Response from Rossmoyne Animal Emergency & Trauma Center
"Perhaps this comment should be directed at Willow Mill and not the Rossmoyne Animal Emergency Trauma Center? We are not located in the Willow Mill facility."
