"We were hired to construct and install a handmade copper bar top. The style of top that they chose has all exposed edges and as the metal is folded and worked into position, there are tool marks and folds on the edges and corners. Again, with the style that they chose with all exposed edges and corners, this is a unique feature to hand made copper countertops that most clients find desirable. This was explained to them in detail when the estimate was provided prior to the work being completed. Mrs. Vinci's son was extremely pleased with the top when it was completed. I have added photos of the job to our profile page. Please make your own judgement as to the quality of our work. I was contacted a year after the job was completed and told that the countertop was warping. I contacted the manufacturer of the sheet copper that we used and they advised that they have never seen copper warp other than if it is exposed to extreme temperatures. I spoke to Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s son several times after this, and I am being expected to cover the cost of replacing the entire countertop even though the manufacturer states this is due to extreme temperatures applied to the surface. I was not advised at the beginning of the job that they would use the top for anything other than drinks and dinner plates. Unfortunately, we had a fire in our shop and it was a complete loss and we have been unable to resolve the claim with our insurance provider as of yet. I advised [Member Name Removed]'s of this and explained that I do not currently have the equipment or the financial resources to absorb the entire cost of replacing their top. At the time, they seemed to be understanding and I told them I would do the best I could by them as soon as I could. I have built numerous other copper countertops over the years and have never had this problem with any other job. Honestly, I do not believe it had anything to do with our work, but I will do what I can to resolve the issue. I would invite any of my past clients to please comment on the service provided after completion of our work."
They're excellent to work with. Adam and his team are terrific. They have good ideas and their work is top notch.
We have never been disappointed in the results/
They completely re-did our back porch, which was in rough shape. they sanded and re-stained flowing, built a knee wall and benches, and put in clear screens throughout so we can enjoy our view of the woods.
They've also done a variety of work for us such as painting, trimming, converted a closet to a kitchen pantry, installation of appliances, and other fixit jobs around the house. We generally called them for about anything and everything for the first 2 years in the house!
They were timely, clean, and professional the whole way through. They are not as easy to line up for quick jobs over the past year or so, as they've become more busy - but if you can get them you'll like them!
Having owned this house for almost nine years we have had issues arise, but have never hired a contractor more than once. I don't think we are particularly hard to work for, but found it nearly impossible to find someone that wasn't cutting corners or overcharging. We have come to dread any type of repair or construction project. So let me try to convey to you our pleasant surprise when working with Kane Finishing. They were there when they said they would be there. They stayed in constant communication. They knew what they were doing. They cleaned up after themselves. They were done ahead of schedule.
We hired them after our basement flooded and we needed to replace wall paneling, shims, insulation, and trim. We considered just doing it ourselves because of our past experiences with contractors. SO GLAD WE DIDN'T. Not only did they fix the basement up better than it was before (and probably stopped some marital issues that always occur during "renovation bickering" lol) they also ended up doing some other projects we added on, such as a bathroom vent fan and an interior door installation. Additionally, they checked some receptacles for us, and get this, offered to let us call them so they could walk us through fixing them ourselves!
They are genuinely good, intelligent guys that are a joy to converse with while working competently and efficiently. They quickly gained our trust and respect, and I would recommend them to anyone - even my grandmother. I will be using them in the future. In fact, they made it so easy that I may never do another project myself again. Call them. Today.
Even though the job was small, Adam performed the job quickly and the results were excellent. I will definitely use him again in the future and highly recommend him to others no matter the size of your project. You will find him very honest and reasonable in his costs. He has a crew of 5 and are able to handle all your needs.
Although our home was brand new, one evening when Adam pulled into our driveway to do some finishing work on the doors, a fitting on our hot water line burst (the fitting literally burst as Adam pulled into the driveway). Adam was at our home to work on pocket doors but that night he saved us from what could have been a major issue when he found the main shut off to the house, altered us to other plumbing issues left from the builder, AND STAYED WITH US to help clean-up the mess in the kitchen and basement. On a personal level, Adam provided us with so much more than a contractor doing our pocket doors. He provided his support, skills, and knowledge for what was a very stressful event!
Because of the interactions from that night and his excellent craftsmanship and use of top-notch materials, we quickly asked Adam to also open-up our stair walls and build steps with solid hickory treads. Although our home is brand new, there were several issues from new home construction that quickly became apparent. These issues required Adam and one of his employees to custom build each and every aspect of the stair project. Again, Adam?s attention to detail and insistence on doing the job correctly has resulted in a gorgeous, completely opened-up, custom built, solid hickory treads set of stairs.
Adam and the gentlemen he employs with Kane Finishing are absolutely stellar examples of all that can go right when having work done on your home. We consider ourselves so fortunate to have found Adam through Angie?s List and he will always have our business, our recommendation, and our gratitude!
