We needed about 2500 sq feet of wood flooring refurbished to achieve a uniform finish, and buff out some minor scuffs. We contacted this company via an Amazon local offer, which offered a discount on the first 400 sq feet. The owner informed us that he was the new owner, but would honor the discount. Everything was fine with the estimate, scheduling and pricing, which was $2100 to "refurbish" (light sand/buff and re-coat) most of the rooms, and re-sand and re-coat 2 of the rooms. The problem was with the workmanship and professionalism of the people he sent to do the work. They were at least 2 hours late every day, which required them to stay well into the evening. During the workday, one of the workers disappeared for hours at a time to "get supplies", which seemed to be a euphemism for some other mysterious activity. On one day, the two workers got into a loud altercation in our front yard (about supplies), which stopped only when we threatened to call the police. We paid them in full the day before they were scheduled to finish, and the next day they did not show up, requiring more threats from us. During this time, the owner was in Florida, but did respond to a few phone calls as we tried to sort out these problems.
The floors look OK. There are shiny spots that we don't know what to do with, and there was polyurethane all over our baseboards in every room they worked on, we are now in the process of repainting all the baseboards in the house. The stair case was sanded, but now appears not to be finished.
We expected a check-in call from the owner once the job was complete, to see how it went and if we were satisfied. We were disappointed that the call never came. We will correct the problems with the shiny spots and missed spots ourselves rather than pursue him for this. We love our house too much to let them back in. The owners need to be more selective about who they hire or contract with if they want this business to succeed.
