Dead trees are extremely dangerous. They require several pieces of specialized equipment and an expertise that a lot of tree cutters just don’t have so it was a bit of a problem to find someone who would take on the job. Mike was just the man for it!! He has over 35 yrs of tree cutting experience and is extremely safety-conscious while exhibiting great expertise in his art. I really enjoyed watching him work — a beautiful dance in the tree! He’s also a very interesting man and a great conversationalist (as is his wife). I thoroughly enjoyed our end-of-day time on my porch, taking a rest before it was time to pack up and go home. I’m so glad I hired him.

Mr. Carlson performed all of the work himself with a combination of professional expertise, personal effort and top quality equipment. Plants that were very close to the stumps are still living and looking good. My neighbors, whose property he staged his truck and equipment on, noted that he took great care in making sure that the result was the best that it could be. You may be able to find a lower bid, but you will not have any problems with the quality of the work if you hire Mike Carlson.

I requested a quote from Mike to remove most of a large multi stem mulberry tree that had fallen in backyard. The tree was situated on  a steep slope so it was to dangerous for me to try to remove it myself.  I emailed Mike early in the week for a quote, he called me on Sunday morning saying he had been busy all week with other jobs due to all, the storms of late.  Mike asked if I was available today - he came out within the hour. He informed that the rest of the tree that was standing was sturdy enough but recommended trimming it down to ensure no danger to the house in the future.  He gave me a quote on removing the fallen part of the tree and hauling away all of the limbs, branches and debris.  He stated that the cost would be a little higher than it could be as their chipper could not go into the backyard meaning more labor in hauling everything out front.  The price I thought was fair (although I did not get any other estimates, I had contacted a few other places with no response back) and I was happy that he was able to do it the same day.  Mike showed up an hour or so later with another guy and began working.  Mike and his worker were very professional and efficient, working the whole time. They ended up removing most of the remaining tree and cleaned up everything including sweeping up the small leaves left behind from the dragging through the yard. The job took a little less than 4  hours to complete.  I was very pleased with their work and would recommend them.

On 06/01 I left a message requesting an estimate to have two ornamental trees with fungus and large areas with dead limbs in our front yard pruned. Mike returned the call later in the evening and said he could give me an estimate by the next week. On Thursday, 06/04, he called to tell me that he was outside of our house looking at the trees.  I met him outside and he told me a little bit about the trees and that pruning them at this point because of all of the dead limbs would not be advisable and the types of trees that they are are susceptible to disease, pests, and are short lived (One of the trees had suffered termite damage that you could see once it was removed). He provided the estimate of $450 to cut down the trees and grind the stumps and said the he would call when he was coming.  He called Monday, 06/08 and arrived at our house at 12:30.  Mike did all of the work himself, even removing the spirea and juniper bushes from the tree edging and replanting when he was finished.  All of the work was completed in three hours.  He also provided suggestions of low maintenance trees when we're ready to replant. Mike was very professional and informative and a pleasure to work with. I would hire him again.

Mike called later the same day that I contacted him. He came to the house to see the work to be done and gave me an estimate. It was done within 1 week (the weather cooperated). He was professional and respectful of my property and did a good job for a fair price.

Everything went great,they came over to my home on a sunday at 9:45am worked on my trees from 9.45 to 2.pm they cleaned everything up before they left,the owner was very nice he explain everything to me what they were doing,they came with a bucket lift and a wood chipper,i will be having them back around August to do some stump grinding in my front and back of my yard4

Mike Carlson called me back / came and gave me an estimate within a day or two. His estimate was approx. $150 cheaper than Carl's Tree Service for the same job. He completed the job within a few days after I told him I wanted to move forward. He arrived on time and had all the right equiptment to do the job. He did an excellent / professional job with the removal of both trees. In particular, he did an great job with the removal of the maple stump / roots given the previous owner planted the tree right over top of my sewer pipe / immediately next to the sewer pipe vent. It was also very close to my driveway. He took great care to ensure the machine did not damage either one. I would highly recommend Mike and/or Carlson Tree Care and wouldn't hesitate to use them in the future... Update 5/10: Used Carlson again when I decided to have the Hemlock tree stump removed. He did another excellent job with the removal of this stump.

Within an hour after I made my first call to Mike, he replied and visited my house within a few hours. That set the tone for my whole experience. I was extremely impressed with how much time he spent with me when he came for the estimate, discussing not only the tree in question, but other trees on my property. He also pointed out some other improvements that could be made that were not tree related. It's extremely obvious that Mike has a wealth of knowledge--he's been doing this work for 40 years--and I was confident that he would do exactly what he said in a fully competent and efficient manner. And that's exactly what happened. Working around electrical lines can be risky--some people I called for estimates wouldn't touch the job--but Mike took his time, and I never worried. Another big plus was that, even though it was a holiday weekend, Mike was willing to come the next day. He spent seven hours working on the tree, and it looks wonderful! I've already received positive comments from neighbors. Mike and his helper cleaned up everything; he didn't leave a mess. I definitely plan on having Mike do more work for me in the future. He works hard for his money; he's worth every penny!

We had a rather large tree in the back of our house that was starting to cause problems due to root growth, etc. In addition there were a number of bushes that were damaged from the severe winter we had a couple of years ago. Being the tree was rather large and close to the house it was a tricky job taking it down. Mike was very professional and did an excellent job in taking down the tree, removal of the bushes, and eliminating the stumps. He also provided advice on how to care for the trees in the front yard going forward.
