The owner, Jamie Burgman, showed up as scheduled and we went over the existing equipment and discussed the replacement equipment, in detail.  After I settled with him on what  A/C & Gas Furnace/thermostat & air cleaner was right for the job, we settled on a price for the entire removal/installation and scheduled it to start on a mutually agreed upon date.  His 2 tech's showed up on time and prepared to work.  The two gentlemen worked carefully & proficiently and were very polite and cleaned up completely each day, completing the work in 2-1/2 days.  We are extremely happy with the work performed and would tell our friends/family to use J A Bradley Heating & A/c in the future.  

Initially I was very happy with Jim Bayer's work (see 2007 report). I called him to replace another furnace in the same building. He came by to survey the unit, then said that he'd get back to me with a price. In the mean time I had a couple of other companies come over to bid the same job. One of them pointed out that the intake and exhaust pipes for the furnaces Bayer installed in November were about 6" off the ground...code requires 18" of clearance to prevent snowfall from blocking them and creating a hazardous situation. Naturally this concerned me. I called Jim to ask about the problems with the first installation, and follow up on his bid since it had been a week since his visit... but he wasn't answering his cell phone or returning the messages I left with his answering service. When I finally was able to reach him (after another week), all of the other bids were in and I was just waiting for his. He told me that he didn't want the job. When asked why, he replied that he thought that it was "tacky" that I had another HVAC company there when his workmen returned to the site to make measurements... in an unscheduled appointment. I didn't get a chance to ask about correcting the previous installations because he hung up on me. I guess that I'll have to fix the botched furnace air supplies myself.

These guys were very professional and prompt. I'm a property manager and had several furnaces installed before, but this is the first time I've used J.L. Bayer. Jim is a very no-nonsense guy, quoted a rock-bottom price, and his crew performed a solid installation, including haul-away and balancing of the furnaces. They are now my first choice for HVAC work.

I found out about this company from the glowing recommendation of my grandmother, who has used them for many years. They are very easy to work with, very punctual. They are always on time, and I have always been able to schedule their visits to coincide with Columbus Day, a day that I have off from work. As a relatively new home owner, they took the time to explain to me how to replace filters on my own.
