Fratangelo Gardens

Worked with me to save cost since we lost money on previous contractor. Worked fast, efficiently, with no surprises. Yard looks great. Already recommend Ed to several other people.

I heard about Fratangelo Gardens from several neighbors who used them for landscaping jobs.  They do nice work.  I called Fratangelo Gardens in late-March to seek landscaping design ideas, pricing, and to get on their schedule for June.  I was first on the pool contractor's list for spring installations and had a firm idea of when the pool would be finished and when the yard would be ready for installation of the fireplace, walls, pillars, and landscaping.  Bill met with me at my home and had some really awesome ideas for the landscaping and fireplace area.  He came to my house a total of 3 times, including 2 after the initial consultation.  During those visits we modified the design based on seeing the pool and yard take shape and narrowed in on the final plan.  I spoke with him weekly for 3 weeks as it got closer to the date for landscaping.  Each time we spoke he confirmed I was on his schedule.  He committed to providing me with a drawing and price estimate on multiple occasions.  We scheduled a meeting at my house to receive the drawing and he did not show up and did not cancel.  That was 5 weeks ago and I have not heard anything since.
Fratangelo Gardens led me to believe I had a landscape contractor for my project.  I would have understood if they told me they were too busy or if my $35,000 residential project was too large or small for their interests.  Their lack of communication and failure to deliver on commitments were unprofessional.  Their lack of upfront communication forced me to find a different landscape contractor during the busy season (something I tried to avoid by starting in late-March).
I will not use Fratangelo Gardens in the future and do not recommend them.

We didn't end up doing at this time.

There were no un anticipated surprises.

I, based on past experiences with involved construction projects with existing structures, expect that there will be situations that come up during construction that will necessitate changes or additions.

This project was no different. We ran into existing irrigation and electric lines that had to be rerouted. The contractor handled the changes in house.

There were really no major surprises and the job was finished within a few days the time originally discussed more to do with the weather than any no shows.

Our initial plan did not include everything that ultimately was done. The planning brought clarity to what could be and ultimately given the scope of what we wanted, should be done. It made no sense, job wise or money wise to do it in pieces.

We had a budget for the original job and would have been within it had we stuck to the original plan, We chose to expand the original plan and knew the budget would expand accordingly. It did, but not beyond what we were quoted by the contractor even with a few "here and there" small changes.

It has been an ongoing project, we will continue to take additional projects to them.

Carlos and his crew performed beyond our expectations, staying until after dark to finish the job.  They were extremely attentive to our wishes in regard to location and did backbreaking work to create planting sites in difficult soil conditions.  We used Fratangelo before and will use them again.  The boss, Bill Phelps, knows what he's doing, is fair in his pricing and in general is a joy to work with.  Just be a little flexible about scheduling because they sometimes get backed up.

They do an ok job if you can get them there.

John came out to give us an estimate. He took pictures of the back of our house and said that he would give us a free computer image of his design. He sent the design about 5 days later and it was GORGEOUS! He is very creative and the design exceeded my expectation. He had put some rocks under the deck with a walkway out to the patio and my husband and I decided we didn't want rocks since we have small children. So I had him reprice it for me using pavers under the deck. He redrew the patio, and again, it was gorgeous! 
Unfortunately the patio was about $2500 more expensive than other quotes I received, so we didn't use Frantangelo. However, John was extremely professional and creative.

Our attempt to get a replacement cost proposal was incomplete and still not satisfactory for our needs.  Last we heard, the responsible person was leaving on vacation.  That's ok, but we have not had any follow-up.

I had ordered 40 Blue Rug Junipers on Monday and was told they would be in on Wednesday or Thursday. I scheduled several workers to come to do the planting on Monday. When I spoke to them on Thursday and asked about them, I was told I'd get a call back. I didn't. On Saturday, I received a call from an underling who said they didn't have them, but should get them in the following week. When I explained that I had already scheduled workers, the employee let slip that they had been sold instead to a contractor, so I was out of luck. When I tried to get the manager, Willy, on the phone he was "unavailable" and even after repeated calls, refused to get on the phone or call me back.
Basically, they are unprofessional and unreliable. While the prices aren't bad, if you can't rely on what they tell you, the price is meaningless. I will not be using them in the future and I suggest others do them same.

Although it was a few years ago, we went to a number of landscaping businesses and when we went to Fratangelo that was where we did our business.  We bought a new house and wanted to do the work ourselves, so we were looking for plants.  Not only did they have a great selection, they took the time with us to sketch out what we wanted to landscape and made recommendations to us.  Wonderfully knowledgeable and their plants did very well.  I would highly recommend them.

We had contacted Frantangelo's to come out and give us an estimate on a retaining wall that needed replaced with versa lok blocks. Bradley came out the same day I called to give us an estimate. He was very nice and we really liked how he explained what was going to need to be done to safely take the old wall down and build new. We had a few other places coming out to give us bids so we told Bradley we would get back to him after we met with the others. This is where It all fell apart for Fratangelo's. I called about 2 weeks after the estimate to schedule them to do the job. When I called the person took my name and number and said that Bradley would call me back to schedule. I waited a week and heard nothing from him.

I called again and spoke to the same person as the week before. Again he took my name and number and said Bradley would get back to me. Well, 2 days later Bradley called me back and said that he didn't have my slip with him and he would call me back the next day. I waited another week and never heard back from him. I called again and spoke to a different guy. When I explained to him what was going on he gave me the excuse of it's not his or the other guys fault. He said that he can give Bradley and the other guy the messages but he can't make them call us. He kept saying we just take the messages. So he said he would personally hold onto my message and said that Bradley would be back into the shop within the hour and he would personally hand him the message and that Bradley would call me back within the hour.

He then said if Bradley didn't call me back then I was to call back AGAIN the next morning and leave another message. The entire day came and went and still call from anybody. I should not have to continue calling and chasing them just to schedule them to do a job. They don't want our business so we will gladly go elsewhere. If they are like this just to schedule people, I can't imagine how they would be at actually getting here to do the job. I think it is very unprofessional to not even return the phone call. I understand it is a busy season for landscapers but this is ridiculous. Save yourself the hassle and use another landscaper.

They were so good.  They were expensive but they were good.  I would recommend them.

Contractor was several weeks late in showing up. However, I told him we weren't in a rush to get the work done. A quick call and they arrived the next day for the two day project. Crew was professional and respectful of family.

Took care not to damage yard with extensive hauling of material. One benefit of this contractor is no down payment up front. Only pay when satisfied which I appreciate. 

Good eye for how to space and position everything. Lots of positive feedback from neighbors and friends on the transformation of our yard.

They do a great job.  They are very neat.  The work is well done.

After an initial attempt to email the provider several weeks ago, no response was given. We then called the business and were told someone would get back to us in few days. No response. Finally, we called again and were told someone would be at our house this morning. They didn't bother to show up and didn't bother to call. My husband and I always like to give our business to a local small vendors, but apparently they don't need the business!

One of my contractors may have bought things from them in the past. One experience that I had with them directly was that the fellow was going to come up here, take some measurements and take a look at the property, but he never did. I wouldn’t say that they were very responsive if they are not going to come up and meet me when they are supposed to come up and meet me - I don’t run my business that way. The effort was wasted. They didn’t end up charging anything for that service. We didn’t get to the stage where the price was discussed and I never got to experience their services. I would not use them again because I can’t count on them.

After several delayed starts, Bradley and his crew showed up and worked the entire day. Now, two months later, when we thought our lawn would be showing much improvement, we have so many bare spots and weeds, (what seed did they use?) that even the neighbors are commenting. After five or six phone calls to Bradley, which were not returned, I visited their store in Coraopolis. I was told that Bradley would stop by and re-do the bare spots that afternoon. Two days later, and I still haven't seen him. My husband says, "those were two very expensive trees." Very poor Customer Relations!

They were delayed in doing the work for several days, perhaps I was a bit anxious to get it finished, but I felt that a phone call, updating me, would have helped.

I called Fratangelo's for an estimate and was contacted approximately a week later to set up an appointment. Bennet came and explained what he would do and gave me an approximate price on the spot. He said he would come back and take final depth measurements since this was on a hillside. When I got the final estimate, it was only slightly higher than the approximate estimate. I met with Ben a few days later and picked the color and style of the pavers I wanted. Then, approximately a week later work began. It took 4 days to complete the walk. Ben's job supervisor, Bob, was extremely courteous and helpful with questions I had. He also changed the layout which he thought would compliment the yard. And, he was right! The finished product is a beauty. I and everyone else that sees it loves it. I could not be happier because of the quality of this job, I hired Fratangelo's to come back and finish the landscaping with plants and shrubs. That job is in the process now.
