I have had Vogel service for the past 20 years.  Although through the years there have been a few incidences, I have been happy with the service and have never filed a complaint.  The last 4 months have been horrible.
At the beginning of Dec. 2013, my and my neighbor's trash were not picked up.  We both called and were told it would be picked up the next day.  It was not.  Then we were told it would be picked up on the next scheduled day of pick up.  it was not.  This continued for 5 weeks.   One time I called, I was told they had a new driver and he was not used to the placement of our cans which are slightly off the road. This is understandable.  On subsequent calls, I was either told the driver was not able to get to our receptacles due to too much snow (untrue...always plowed) or an explanation was not given.  There were weeks where there was no snow at all on our road, yet the trash was not picked up. Every week I called and got the same response.  One week I spoke to a man that answered and was so upset by his rudeness that I actually called other refuse removal services. The first time the trash WAS picked up (mid January), one of the lids of the three trash cans was missing.  I figured it was an accident and did not call to complain.  I had two other serviceable trash cans.  Then we again went a few weeks without pick up.  The next time it was picked up (this past week) the other two lids went missing.  Considering only one of the cans had trash in it and was pulled out of the built-in receptacle housing unit (the other cans remained in the housing unit) I find this very unusual.  I called and the same 'gentleman' answered.  His response was... Why don't I have a different type of can and  if I didn't see them actually throw away the lids, he couldn't do anything about it.  Good bye.  
 I didn't expect them to replace the trash cans, though that would be a nice gesture, customer service-wise.  I DID expect an "I'm sorry it happened.  I will look into it and see this does not happen again" response.  I did NOT expect total rudeness and an insinuation that it was perhaps my fault.  I am not one who customarily files complaints, however the Vogel response (or lack thereof) is making me see red.

We have been using them for thirty years. They are excellent.

VOGEL HAS RARELY NOT SHOWN UP FOR PICK-UP. IF A LARGE ITEM NEEDS TO BE DISCARDED, YOU MUST CALL FIRST AND THEY WILL GIVE THE DATE IT WILL BE PICKED UP. USUALLY 3-4 DAYS NOTICE IS NEEDED.

THROUGH, RAIN, SNOW AND SUN, THE PERSONNEL THAT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY ARE RELIABLE. NO MATTER WHAT YOU THROW AWAY, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. GREAT JOB!!
