My experience was outstanding, and I would highly recommend Ed and Envirostar. My floors looked gorgeous when he finished. Ed communicated by phone and in person and was terrific. He explained the whole process, came when he said he would, and took time to answer all my questions (and I had many!). He and his workers removed old carpet, stripped, sanded, repaired, and refinished the hardwood floors, and installed a kitchen vinyl floor. He made arrangements for the disposal of the old carpet and cleaned everything up as much as possible at the end of each day. When the project was completed, you couldn't even tell there had been construction there. The floors gleamed. I wish my pictures had turned out so that you could see the before and after, because it was a stunning improvement. My hardwood floors had some badly stained spots from pet accidents that we hadn't caught in time. He replaced the damaged areas and tried to minimize the amount of oak needed to replace the damaged floorboards so that my final bill wouldn't be any larger than was necessary. He worked with my schedule because we were refinishing most of the floors in the house and had to move some furniture around from one floor to the other. He was meticulous with putting down the finish and personally handled that part--and it looked amazing when he was done. He had a couple workers with him for the sanding and was on site the entire time working while they also were there. He took care to minimize the dust in the air. He also made sure to wear safety equipment, and he ensured his workers did, too. At first, I was a little concerned about the one negative review until I read it and compared it to the other very positive reviews and took that one review with a heavy dose of salt. In the negative review, the lady complained about how he left 1/2" unsanded floor edges after 1 day of sanding. This is because his large sanding machines don't reach to the very edge of the floor. No large floor sander can. He came the next day and used a smaller hand-held sander to get the perimeter edges. The lady who left the bad review was too impatient to let him continue the job the right way. Too bad for her, because she missed out on Ed's fantastic work. If you value a high quality job done the right way the first time, Ed can do it for you. I have no association with Ed personally, and he didn't ask for this review. I just feel his work was so terrific that I needed to share my experience with you all. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

It went very well. Ed is one of the nicest people that you will ever meet and a very hard worker. I had him refinish my living room and dining room, both nice size rooms. In addition he refinished my elaborate staircase, the hallway upstairs and the smallest of my three bedrooms. He stained them from a light color to dark rich color. He then installed all the bamboo hardwood on the floors that I mentioned above and that included the trim. I had just bought the house and it needed a good bit of work as it is over a hundred years old. He really seemed to know what he was doing. There were a few spots that he showed me he couldn't do much with as he thought bleach or a similar substance might have been dripped on it throughout the years, but he did a good job of covering them up and no one has noticed anything. I waited a few months to write this review as I wanted to see how it looked after some use. Oh, I forgot, he also tightened my loose staircase rail and oiled some of the woodwork that looked a little rough. With Ed, I feel that you need to choose between time and money. He basically worked alone as his partner was having health issues at the time. But the price was right. Everything and I do mean everything was included in price he gave me in his estimate and I think he came in at around a hundred dollars less. That also included all material and trim for the bamboo floors. The only thing I paid extra for was the excellent 8'x22" counter, that I had made right here in Harrisburg, at Krehling Industries for $129.32. Then Ed's partner, Barry, put it in for two hundred dollars and it looks perfect. Very durable and attractive Formica. I get rave reviews on it. It took Ed a few weeks to do everything, but I know that I saved lots of money working with him and I am very pleased with the results. Total cost for everything was just under $4900.

It went very well. Envirostar definitely know what needs to be done to get floors looking nice. Would recommend the owner hire on an administrator to relieve some of the burden of scheduling proposals and maintaining their schedule with all the work they get in.

Overall, the entire project went well.  There were a few minor issues that needed addressed at the end of the project, which Ed resolved without hesitation.  When I searched for a company to refinish my floors, I wanted them done as cost effective as possible since I was preparing to sell the house within a month or so.  Ed provided the most bang for the buck by giving me many options to meet my goal (a balance of the best neutral finish and cost effectiveness).

He got us in between his other jobs because he knew we were on a deadline. Ed answered all our questions. He was very knowledgeable about wood and what color would look best to blend the oak and fir. The floor are gorgeous!

He was friendly, professional and reasonable in cost. He really knows his wood and was able to gently sand, and recoat all our wood floors so there is a consistent look across all the wood. He did a beautiful job. I now enjoy seeing my wood floor again.
