Description of Work: Brent is great. He has done one or two small jobs for us. Great attention to detail, good quote. We plan to hire him for a larger, building job.

He did a beautiful job. He was prompt, accurate in his bid and quick to perform the work.
Description of Work: Repaired a fine wood bannister.
The price we paid included the work of the subcontractors. Everything went great. The job was finished completely and professionally, just as expected. Although the job took longer than anticipated, Brent is about getting the job done right, and NOT cutting corners to finish on time.
Description of Work: After our finished basement flooded, we knew we needed to hire a contractor to refinish the basement, converting it from a dismal dark area to a bright living space. We hired Brent after interviewing and obtaining estimates from 3 contractors. We used Brent in the past and knew he was a perfectionist and would get the job done right the first time. He is also great with our inquisitive four year old daughter. The job was a basement remodel which included relocating the stairs (no small job to say the least); installing wall-to-wall drywall, as well as drywall the ceiling, revamping and installing a new entry door from garage to basement, creating a bathroom, hiring and overseeing subcontractors to handle the plumbing and electrical (the subs were also super), installation of new stairs, rails, and spindles, and installing two new basement windows. The stairs were located in our kitchen, in an undesirable location and took up much needed space. Since we were redesigning our basement into a living area, we opted to spend the time and money to move the stairs to the living room. Brent did an excellent job, even after running into some unexpected snags upon removing the basement's drop ceiling. The stairs look great and feel great going up and down. Brent drywalled, mudded, and sanded the basement walls and ceiling, and did an excellent job in doing so. He is a modest contractor that performs excellent work, so don't let his modesty fool you. He even took the time to relocate some of our plumbing lines so they could be hidden behind the drywall, and notched out a space for the new basement entryway door, allowing the door to open more fully and correctly. It is often these little details that take extra effort and thinking, which separate good contractors from great ones. He installed two new basement windows, constructed the walls for our half-bath, and made sure that the plumbers and electricians were there on time and did a great job overseeing their work. Though Brent did not handle the electrical and plumbing himself, he knows how it is to be done correctly, he made sure it was done correctly, and he hires the right contractors for the job.

Brent arrived promptly when promised and gave me an estimate, which I accepted. He originally thought that the job would take 4 days, but he completed it in just 3 days. Brent is very meticilous and doesn't stop working on something until he has it exactly right. He got all of the shutters lined up exactly and did whatever was necessary to get them to hang correctly. He made up the pieces for the center of the double windows, painted, and installed them, and mounted the shutters on them so that the windows would tilt in for cleaning. He had to devise a different way to install them in order to insure that the shutters would not shift, as the clearance was so close. Brent spent as much time on each set of shutter as was necessary to get them installed and adjusted to his satisfaction. He made sure that every thing was exactly right. He also purchased a wood railing and brackets and cut it to match the railing on the other side of the stairway to the second floor. As the original railing was stained a dark cherry color, he took down my original railing and took it, along with new one that he fabricated to make sure that the stain would match the original railing. He stained and varnished the railing at home and brought them back and installed the new one to match the original railing exactly. He even varnished the inside of the original railing that the builder did not bother to varnish. As with the shutters, he was very meticulous and made sure that everything fit and matched perfectly. Brent is very trustworthy and I was very comfortable having him working in my home while I was there and when I went out on appointments. I highly recommend him for any work that you want done in your home, particularly fine carpentry work. After he was finished he figured up how much I owed him and actually came in under his original estimate. Needless to say, I am very satisfied with the work that he did and the price that he charged.
Description of Work: I purchased custom-made interior shutters for every window in my house from Lowes which they refused to install. I called Brent Scott Stehman about installing the shutters, as I wanted to have a good job done and also needed to have some wood installed in the middle of the double windows on which to attach the shutters. The installation was rather tricky as my double-hung windows tilt in for cleaning and the clearance was very tight. Additionally, I wanted to have a second handrail installed on the stairway to the second floor to match the one on the opposite side.

Everything went perfect. We trust this contractor enough to be in our home alone and gave him a spare key while we were away. He is punctual, professional and friendly. Everything he does, he does with skill and thoughtfulness, as if it were his own home. True story: A year ago we had severe hail damage in our neighborhood that damaged many of the roofs. Brent helped us replace our roof a few years earlier. A different contractor came through the area to let us know he would be replacing roofs with hail damage, it was covered by our homeowners insurance, and he would check our roof for free. Upon inspecting our roof and climbing back down, he told my husband that whoever installed our roof did such a meticulous job, that he wouldn't be able to match that level of work with his guys.
Description of Work: He replaced the front door and added a storm door. Wrapped all exterior door frames. Replaced exterior, and some interior, door hardware. Installed new basement windows. Replaced exterior shutters. We also hired this contractor for our roof replacement in 2008, as well as to tile our bathroom floor and add crown molding to our rooms around the same time. I cannot recommend this contractor enough. He is meticulous, careful, courteous and knowledgeable. His reputation allowed him to perform work on a Parade of Homes feature home, which we were fortunate enough to see before it was sold. This gentleman has exceeded our expectations on every job he has done.
