Excavation
Mountainside Excavators Inc of Manheim PA was hired by Tom Costello of Costello Builders of Lancaster PA to clear and excavate a site for new construction located 81 WhiteTail lane Palmyra PA. This home site has more than 30 trees which were cut down and sold for profit. Art Groff owner of Mountainside Excavating charged Costello builders to haul away all tree stumps but instead his company dug a 100 foot long by 20 foot wide and 20-foot deep hole and buried all the stumps in a swale. Over the next five years, the trees started to settle, decompose and create many sinkholes on the new homeowner's yard. The homeowner, fell into a hole up
to his thigh one spring and another hole 10 feet deep opened up 6 months later. This family was terrified to mow their lawn and play in their yard because of this Mountainside man made sink hole.
Not only were they dishonest by charging for work they did not do but they put homebuyers lives at risk by being careless and potentially inflicting harm on others.
