To sum up our feelings in one sentence, the custom cabinetry, flooring and counter tops are awesome, but they need a detailer. The overall rating we wanted to give was a B-. The project progressed slowly and took longer than stated. We understood that the cabinets would be built prior to starting anything at the house. The cabinets were not started until after everything was torn out of the old kitchen. We looked past all of this because everything looked great once the floor and cabinets started going in. When we could finally start putting things in the new cabinets, we started to find the issues. The cabinets were dirty and still had saw dust inside. I don't know if this is normal or not, but feel at least the sawdust could have been cleaned up. The cabinet designed for my cookbooks was not sanded on the inside making it difficult to clean. The wood was split where 1 of the hinges was installed on a cabinet front. We had cabinet doors where the stain did not match because they only had 1 coat of stain while the rest had 2 or more. Then some doors didn't have the polyurethane coating. They did fix everything we pointed out to them, but the concern is what we didn't find. We found a faulty GFIC outlet 2 months after completion of the project. When the recessed lights were turned on and you plugged something into that outlet, the lights flickered on and off. It took 6 weeks to get the outlet replaced and the new one installed is a cheaper brand than the rest of them. My husband requested Leviton brand be used for all outlets installed. The other outstanding issue is the hinge on the lazy susan cabinet. The original hinges allowed the door to open, but not the whole way. We were told new hinges were ordered and we would be contacted to install them as soon as they arrived. Two months after completion of the project, the hinges had still not arrived. They were finally installed a month later with the cheaper outlet. Now the issue is that the hinge does not allow the bottom shelf to turn around. See the picture below. We were told they would come back after Christmas to move the bottom hinge up to allow free movement of the bottom shelf. That was 3 months ago. Since then we have also found bare electrical wires that should have been covered with wire nuts. These details can individually be seen as minor, but when combined together become pretty big issues. Overall, the room looks great. The issues are in the details. But the details are important too.

George, Lucas and the boys were fantastic. Great craftsmen and people. They were flexible when we had a family emergency. Every time we step into our bathrooms we marvel at how beautiful they turned out. We will not hesitate to hire them again.

I called and left a message for Lucas. No one returned my call. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, so I called them again. I spoke with Lucas. We scheduled a time for him to look at the job. He came to our home. Looked at the work to be performed. He told me I should get the estimate in a week. We are now going on three weeks and I have not received any information from this company . I do not see how they have gotten such high ratings when their followup, responsiveness, and professionalism has been poor at best.

Outstanding job from beginning to end!    We had half the basement finished.   Quote was very reasonable.   The work was completed in a timely manner with little disruption.  Recessed lighting, more than sufficient number of outlets, added a closet, paint and carpeting look nice.  The post in the middle of the room even looks great the way they wrapped it (oak?) and added finishing touches.  We even added a few items such as expanding the space, installing pet doors, and installing outlets on the unfinished side.   No problem!   Lucas, his dad, and helper handled it with ease and the extras were reasonable.   The place looks so good, I don't want anybody to hang anything on the walls or even walk on the carpet to mess it up.    We definitely plan to use George Kraft and Son again.  Call these guys, you can't go wrong.

Most of the project went well.  There were many discussions on my preferences which was very reassuring.  I did provide a basic plan with drawings to start things off, so having a plan up front helps a lot.  The main problems seemed to happen with suppliers either not having stock or having items that did not properly fit into the space provided.  Don't count on the hardware stores to have anything that you think you will need.  Most large items need to be planned ahead with delivery times specified.
Things I really liked... Their tiling work, finish work on toilet, sinks, cabinets, their work on the electrical locations and routing, and final trim work.  Some things I did not like were the choice in primer paint, several doors did not fit as well as I would like, minor damage to cabinet, and the estimate for when work would be complete.  They took several weeks longer than estimated which I am sure was a problem for them, too.  Also, dust and dirt ended up everywhere in the house.
Yes, even with problems, I would hire them again. Their expertise and ability to keep the project moving are invaluable in remodeling since you never know what you will find underneath the walls, floors and ceilings.

George Kraft and Son did an excellent job. My basement looks great, and I could not be happier. They were able to make my vision come to life. Every one who comes over compliments the job they did. They are very reliable, hard workers, and do an excellent job. They go above and beyond the call of duty at a very reasonable price. They communicated with me through every step of the process and offered some very valuable advice. I can tell that they truly care and do what is best for their customers. I know several other people who have used their services, and everyone is very pleased with their work. I recommend them with full confidence, knowing they can get your job done with great skill.

Overall, the quality of the work was acceptable...nowhere near perfect, just acceptable.  The major dissatisfaction was the lack of communication.  It took 4 months to complete the work.  Most of the time we were wondering when they were going to come.  They never took the initiative to let us know anything.  they only responded to our inquiries.

it turned out really well.  a new bulk head was made & installed above area that 1/2 wall was removed, also above doorway that was widen.  alot of work had to be preformed in attic for the electric work plus adding new light fixtures & repair to ceiling from removing previous light fixture.  alot of work was done relocating recepticles/switches & running new wire where neccesary.  a new countertop was installed by manufacture.  the contractors reconnected the plumbing to new sink & installed new dishwasher.  they removed old countertop & sink a day before the new top was installed, this took place in a timely manner so the inconvience was miniable.  i and my wife feel we got quality work at a reasonable price.

They are excellent contractors. We have invested roughly $20000 of improvements in our home during the past five years; George and Lucas Kraft have completed all of that work (along with their skilled crew of workers). They have upgraded/replaced two sliding doors (one to our main floor deck and one to the outside from our basement). They have also upgraded/replaced our kitchen sink and worked with a specialty contractor to replace all of our counter-tops with Corian surfaces. They have also performed a number of smaller jobs, including installing an outdoor (window unit) AC support, replacing our mailbox, replacing the sliding door on the shower in our master bathroom, and upgrading/replacing our in-sink erator (garbage disposal).
The biggest, and most outstanding, job they have completed in our house is our finished basement (which consisted of just four concrete walls when they started). They worked with our family on the design from scratch and provided a detailed estimate of all materials and labor, They then cut an additional egress (an access door that allows the space to serve as a stand-alone apartment, if desired) out of the concrete wall/foundation of the house. Subsequently, they built all the walls (for four separate rooms) and completed all of the wiring, plumbing, flooring (laminate and carpet), insulation, cabinetry, lighting, and everything else that needed to be done. They also helped us fill the kitchen with appliances. By the time they were finished, we had a complete kitchen, bathroom with stand-up shower and linen closet, bedroom with closet and sliding door egress to the back yard, and living room (with sliding door access to utilities closet). George's meticulous woodwork in the kitchen and linen closet was especially impressive. They also retained some (hidden) space for storage. Lucas, George, and their crew did such an outstanding job that we receive glowing comments from every new visitor to our house; this continues to happen even four years after the work was completed.
We have recommended (and will continue to recommend) George W. Kraft & Son Contractors to anyone we know who seeks high quality contracting work of various kinds at very fair prices. They are by far the best contractors with whom we have ever worked.

We had to pull out an old built-in set of ovens when they failed and were left with gaping holes in our cabinets and useless space.  George and Lucas created custom hardwood cabinet doors that matched the rest of our kitchen perfectly in style, color and gloss.  They converted the space into a full sized pantry for tons of extra storage.  We were afraid we would have to remodel the kitchen earlier than planned or at the very least, lose that entire section of cabinetry but they found a fabulous alternative and created major storage for us.  If you did not know that the doors were added on, you would never be able to tell the difference.  Also, they were wonderful guys to deal with...prompt, professional and cleaned up well after the construction.
