+ -1 moreSee above. We feel they forced a new opener charge on us for something that could have been fixed. We were in a bind and we feel they took advantage of that. We also thought it odd that the Overhead Door technician could not give us a price for the new opener without calling his office first. Every service provider we have ever had is always ready to quote charges without checking with their office.
Description of Work: Service call for garage door opener problem. They came promptly and inspected and told us we needed a new garage door opener for $536 (including the service call). They required 50% deposit but could not do the work for a few days. We paid for the service call and gave them the deposit. Total paid of $306. We had called this company beccause there was evidence that they had serviced the door before. We did not confirm if that was the fact. We bought the home earlier in the year and realized we had a homeowners warranty. We called the HOW company and we asked Overhead Door to work with them. Overhead Door refused. We had another repairer out (at Angie's List referral--something we should have done earlier.....) who was happy to help and came out the next day and fixed the door for less than 1/3 of the Overhead Door charges. We are still waiting for a $200+ refund from Overhead Door which they told us they were unable to issue to us until 7-10 days after we cancelled their services.
