"It was so nice dealing with you as well! We thank you so much for the positive feedback! We definitely strive for a happy customer!"
was going to be higher and that when he quoted a job, that's what it would be - unless we hit a major issue and that we would be told if that happened...he (and I quote) "pride myself on my quotes. If I say it will be that price, it will be that price unless we run into major issues and then we can discuss that if that happens." We decided to go with RTF and not get any more quotes based off of this. That was MY mistake.
The installer, John, was wonderful but lacked proper help throughout most of the install. They severely damaged my master bedroom wall - and the owner did come out and agreed to have his drywall people repair it (which I understood was not in the contract but was much appreciated).
Now, here is where the problems started - the outdoor unit broke within 4 days of install and Tom got a new one replaced under warranty. Then, two weeks after install, the return duct "fell off" of the return box so we had to turn the AC off because the hot air was just going to come out in my bedroom closet. I called the office and they were able to get out the same day and fix it.
This was the worst part - I started gathering the paperwork for the rebates and tax credits and noticed that the 16 SEER Bryant unit was not the outdoor unit we received. In fact, we only received a 13 SEER unit. This meant that we didn't qualify for any rebates or tax credits. We called the office and Tom and Keith agreed to meet with us to discuss this. At first, they tried telling us that the 16 SEER unit was for a conventional system quote (but we only had them quote us a high-velocity). Then, it was a mistake on Tom's part. My boyfriend got a little upset with the responses and it got a little loud but Keith quickly tried to diffuse the situation. After 30 minutes, we left, agreeing to come up with a number that would satisfy us and they would do whatever they could to resolve the issue. Two days later, I gave my proposal to Keith on the phone and was told I would hear back from him in a few days. He called me back a few days later to ask about my numbers and on 7/23, I sent him the information via e-mail. When I got home that evening, I had received the financing statement and the charge was for $325.50 more than we were expecting. The card was charged on 7/10 but as of 7/23, we had still not received an invoice. I wrote to Keith again and let him know that we hadn't gotten an invoice and was charged the extra amount so if he could let us know or get us the invoice before the bill was due so we could look at it, it would be greatly appreciated. I hadn't heard anything by 7/31 so I sent a follow-up e-mail and reminded him again that I had not yet received an invoice. The response I received was that he would be meeting with Tom the next day (8/1) to discuss what he felt was a fair resolution. I again followed up on Friday (8/2/2013) because I had not heard back and again reminded him that I had not yet received an invoice and the bill was due next week
So as of today, 8/5, I still had not heard back or received an invoice. The financing bill is due in 2 days so I had to dispute the charge until I get an invoice. I did not want to pay for something that I didn't know what I was paying for - and paying additional interest on this charge! I took the time to write Keith, yet again, and let him know I was disputing the charge because I had not received an invoice or even a call from him as promised. It was almost 3 weeks since we had met with them and were supposed to be coming to a resolution for getting a far less efficient unit than promised and for not qualifying for the rebates. It seemed like they were trying to work something out with us but after all this "tomorrow" and "next week" and now, not replying, I felt like I was getting yanked and lied to.
About a half hour later, I get an e-mail letter from their LAWYER stating that we complained regarding the fact that you have been unable to secure certain rebates from the manufacturer (NOT TRUE, these weren't manufacturer rebates). Please be advised that the contract called for a high velocity A/C System and not the particular system for which you are attempting to obtain a
rebate (NOT TRUE, THE CONTRACT HAS THE REBATES LISTED AND SAYS THEY ARE INSTALLING A HIGH VELOCITY UNIT). You initially refused that system upon signing the contract because you did not want to install new duct work (NOT TRUE AT ALL. FIRST, WE ONLY GOT QUOTE FOR ONE SYSTEM and TWO, WE HAD DUCTWORK INSTALLED BECAUSE THE HOUSE DID NOT HAVE EXISTING DUCT WORK). Please be further advised that while my client installs the A/C systems, it is not the manufacturer and has no authority to issue or not issue a rebate. My client has gone above and beyond the contract in providing you service in this matter, including, but not limited to doing additional plaster work not provided for in the contract. As such, my client will not be refunding any additional monies to you. SO, FOR 3 WEEKS, THEY "PRETENDED" THEY WANTED TO CORRECT THEIR MISTAKES AND THEN, THEY JUST TELL THEIR LAWYER TO SEND US AN "EFF YOU" LETTER. Real honorable and respectable.
Honestly this entire time, I waited to write a review, giving them the benefit of the doubt that all of this was an honest mistake and we were going to resolve the issue (maybe because that's what they told us). I now have to agree with my boyfriend, this was a classic BAIT-AND-SWITCH. They baited us with the promise of a high efficiency unit and rebates and tax credits to get us to spend beyond our means and then came in and gave us a far inferior product. We also never got an invoice...and THAT'S SHADY. They charged out card but didn't send us the invoice as to what they were exactly charging. Now, we're left paying $1,300 more than we expected, we basically will not have the 1 year service contract that was included because I do not plan on ever calling them again. I am literally sick about it. I cannot believe I trusted them and this is how they conduct business! I thought that because I knew Tom's wife that this was an upstanding, honest, trustworthy company and clearly I was wrong.
DO NOT EVER SIGN A CONTRACT WITHOUT THE INDOOR AND OUTDOOR UNITS!!! Find another company on here with a great reputation and have any HVAC company you use EXPLICITLY write out everything before you sign any contract. THEIR LEGAL JARGON COVERS THEIR A** ON EVERYTHING AND OFFERS YOU NO PROTECTION! I WILL NEVER MAKE THIS MISTAKE AGAIN and I will be SURE to tell my friends not to make this mistake either!
