Description of Work: Remodeling a master bathroom in my mobile home. I supplied the materials, including beadboard wall covering, and he supplied the labor. The last time I saw him was the previous Friday, when he asked for a check for $1,000 and told him I had given him an excellent rating on Angie's List. After he left, I took a closer look at the finishing work he had done and found he had used headed nails, not finishing nails for the trimwork. He should have used finishing nails for the trimwork. Earlier I had showed him a pancake air compressor I have in my office, and told him I had a brad nailer in my woodworking shop. In fact, his assistant had to move the brad gun to make room for the painting that was done to the pre-primed wood trim pieces. I also have several hundred brads for the gun in the shop, but neither of them asked, and went ahead and used soffit nails on the trim. The soffit nails split the wood or protuded. It was a very amateurish mistake for a so-called professional to make. He did not show up Monday, and when I called about it his wife told me it was raining and he didn't want to track mud into my house, which was a horrid excuse. They had been told I was going to re-do the entire interior of the mobile home. She told me they would be back Thursday. I told her to tell him that from now on, I was in-charge, that I would be the general contractor, and I must approve all that was done. He called back very angry and his last words were "I'm finished" and then he hung up on me. I haven't seen or heard from him since. I originally hired Herold because I had severe sight problems at the time. Since then, an operation had been done that returned full sight to my right eye. I will continue with the remodeling on my own. I'm lucky to have that option. Many other people are far less fortunate and much more vulnerable than me.
