Berks Products

I made the appointment when I received a reminder card. The appointment clerk was courteous and scheduled an appointment the next week. She gave a 2-hour window for the technician to arrive. As usual, he arrived at the beginning of the period, punctual to the minute. He spent about 90 minutes cleaning the system, checking the flue, changing oil filters and nozzle, etc.
He was exceptionally neat and left the basement cleaner than when he arrived. The furnace continues to run reliably and as efficiently as a 45 year-old unit can. This excellent experience is typical of the service we have come to expect from Berks Products.
Since Berks Products took over servicing our system about 8 years ago, we have never had a problem requiring a special service call. Their annual service has kept the system in tip-top shape with no need for further attention!

I called Berks Products and spoke with Mark Hile. He came to our home and performed a complete analysis of our heating and cooling needs (and quot;Manual Jand quot; in the industry parlance). Mark was very thorough, highly knowledgeable, and friendly, too!
I contacted a few companies to provide quotes for us, and Berks Products was the only one to do the Manual J. Everyone else wanted to just replace the existing system with the same size system, even though the home has been renovated and has had additional windows and skylights added. It turned out that we needed a different size system than the one that was already in place.
Mark got the quote back to us the next day and provided three price levels of equipment, all of which were very competitive compared to the other quotes we received.
We placed our order, but the equipment we selected was not in stock. Berks Products obtained the equipment quickly, and we set an appointment for installation.
On installation day, everyone showed up on time. Mark also stopped in to see how things were going, and at one point the service department supervisor also stopped in. Everything went really well.
The system has been in place for 11 months and everything works great. We also use Berks Products to deliver heating oil and to service our oil boiler (for hot water and heat pump backup). We've had good experiences with that sideof their business, too.

It was good. They're very professional. They guarantee they'll be out on a call within three hours.

After moving to a "new" home we limped along for several winters with an old furnace from the 1940's. It was big and inefficient but we worried about the cost to replace it. We checked prices and finally settled on Berks Products to do the job. They gave us a reasonable estimate and their salesman was professional and knowledgeable. Once we gave the go ahead they had the new furnace in within 2 weeks. We've been very pleased with their service and now use them for our oil company too.

The PITS... if you are not a priority customer, you wait. Last snow emergency we ran out of oil even with the help of the State Representative. They would NOT deliver on weekend and we had to wait 3 days. LIHEAP assisted in getting oil delivered, but has not yet made full payment. I have a letter saying they are sending a payment of $299 to Berks products, but Berks says until they get it, we will NOT get any additional oil as long as there is a balance. Receptionist has a total lack of customer service, her attitude was "balance on account, you get nothing". She would NOT accept the letter sent to me saying a payment was being made by LIHEAP. Never again will I deal with them in any form and others without a 5 star rating should avoid them also. I understand why they are not members of the BBB. Better and Business should not be used in the same sentence when talking about this company. Run fast away from this company.
