Franks Electric arrived promptly at 8:30am.  The technician came to the door and introduced himself to me.  We then proceeded to the kitchen where I explained the situation with the faulty light.  He got a ladder, accessed the fixture and removed the cover.  It was apparent that the 2 outer bulbs were blown and the 2 inner bulbs were not working.  The bulbs were then removed and the technician checked the wiring and ballasts.  It was then determined that the ballasts were not working properly.  So, the tech suggested he leave to purchase new ballasts for better bulbs and update the wiring so the ballasts function properly.  He left and returned approx 15-30 minutes later.  Upon returning, he repaired the fixture, and updated the wiring.  Now the fixture will only need 2 bulbs of smaller capacity, but greater brightness.  The original bulbs for the fixture are being discontinued in July so this would have needed to be done anyway.  The tech replaced the cover and advised me to leave the lights on for a few hours to allow the bulbs to maximize their brightness.  He said that the new ballasts and new bulbs will last much longer than the originals and if I have any issues to call them.  The tech cleaned up the floor where wiring bits were laying and promptly left.
