Before he brought a project, we went into Home Depot to purchase tile. He was supposed to install the counter-tops. I liked a certain Korean counter-top, but I did not make a decision to buy this counter-top. I was mealy shopping around on that day. He decided to come over that evening to ask him about the contract, and he thought we were going to do this job by word-of-mouth. He thought I was not going to do a contract. When he came over, I was under sedition from my medication. The contract did not include installation of cabinets, appliances, or counter tops. When I was going to sign the contract, I noticed he did not type in any information I mentioned. He refinished my bathroom on a prior project. We both decided that he did not have to go into specific details for the jobs. He had to redo the ceiling, floors, and paint the walls. I thought the contract was for $3,000. He was going to install the sink, appliances, and cabinets, without mentioning them in the contract. He said we did not need a permit. I gave him $1,000 to start. The remaining $1,000 was to be given at completion of floor and ceiling. From my impression, it appeared that they busted my pipelines and tried to say this was an existing problem. The building permit was not pulled and the job was pulled when he was called on not having a permit. This delayed our job by 3 days. I was informed by the permit company that he was not allowed to have any employees on the job because he was not paying them. He continued to use his employees to work on the job. He told me not to tell the enforcement. I called enforcement and he spoke with the employee. He was unaware of this. The boss asked me who called enforcement and I let him know I called them. He started working on the job in December and he had until March to finish. I did not hear from him from December until March. Direct buy sent my cabinets and he came out to sign for the cabinets. To date, the floor and walls are not finished. The paint was stretched.
