We received an estimate of $500 to repair the typewriter ribbon mechanism, which was overly excessive for this type of repair. When we picked up the machine they did not even share any of the diagnosis information we had paid 65.00 for. Even when we dropped it off he would never answer what a routine service would cost, because had we known we never would have spent the $65 or left the machine there. The $65 was a fee that was not refunded or included in the price of repairs even if we had gotten them done which he had explained in detail before we left the machine. We would never use him again.

Mr. DeBarth is very intelligent and very knowledgeable of typewriters. The best I've ever seen! I have four old typewriters, dating back to the beginning of last century that I try to keep going. I have never quite been satisfied with anybody that I've gone to. Mr. DeBarth knew exactly what I was talking about and gave me a very straightforward estimate. It is their policy to give an exact cost on all work and obtain customer approval before beginning repair. All recommended repairs are guaranteed 30days unless stated otherwise. He has very specially made long tables and very impressive equipment. This is a very unusual shop, full of the most unusual typewriters I've seen!
