Customer for many years, paid for maintenance service, and had equipment failure. Donnelly's wanted to charge $450 to replace a condensation line that is nothing more than vinyl tubing that connects to a pump and goes to a drain. I installed it myself for $25 and now Donnelly says it has voided my warranty. Donnelly's wants their customers to pay their high maintenance fees with little regard for their customers. I would give one star and hate to do this because the technicians are terrific. They are always professional and courteous. The company itself is looking to cash grab customers through unreasonably high prices.

They sound great and trustworthy but they WILL take advantage of you. Appointment scheduling was great however I feel I was robbed. $538 to replace a motor condenser. This is the easiest repair that can be done on an air conditioning system. They charge a $59 diagnostic fee which was on top of the $479 to replace a $30 part in 15 minutes. I am new to central AC and It is totally my fault for not doing my research. If I did I would have paid the diagnostic fee and found someone else to replace the condenser. This service should not have cost more than $250. They sound great and trustworthy but they WILL take advantage of you.

DO NOT CALL THEM!! If I could give them a big fat zero I would! If you are looking for an honest plumber keep on looking because Donnelly are thieves. Charged $1800 to replace a toilet! If you do get a quote from them first have your head checked and then double check what they are charging you for BEFORE you agree to anything. $1800 for a toilet!!

They are year Spring and Fall. You take out a service contract. They are very good. They always come right when they say they will. They wear little booties in your house, so they don't get your house dirty. I like them very much. I don't have a comparison for price.

I don’t recall the price, but if I used them then it was probably a good price. It is what it is. They just came in, replace, was knowledgeable about it and they would tell me what the issue was.

The $89 was for the Winter service and it included the Summer service too.
They definitely looked at the situation and give you more information about the equipment, some of the background and other things to look for in the future. Because they are familiar with that type of model of equipment, so they will tend to give me a heads up on what to keep an eye out for going forward.
They honor the manufacturer?s warranty.

I've been with them for about 15 or 20 years and I had an annual contract with them that they would come and take care of air conditioning and the heater and all that good stuff.

They're always here on time and they call before they come.

Plumber was nice and professional on the phone, but quoted me $1418 to replace a shower valve. This is a totally unreasonable price for the job.

My garbage disposal made noise but didn't run so in inspecting it I saw that the pipe to the sink on the other side was damp. I checked around because I have a whole house rainsoft system component under that sink also and checked it for leaks there was none which makes what they ended up doing criminal. The one thing was they were punctual. Came in said garbage disposal need to be replaced. They quoted $500. I said no but what about the pipe on other sink. My boyfriend who is handicapped and not knowledgeable in owning a home said tech quoted $250 to fix leak. I came home to my water softener component cut out. Here the tech Nick claimed the water softener was the source of the leak. I know this not to be true because if it was leaking I would have called rainsoft not the plumber!!!!! So deception #1 by the way he didn't fix the pipe at all. Next my handyman came by for other reasons and I told him the story. He then takes an alan wrench and in less than a minute gets my garbage disposal working. Do use this company either they are really dishonest or just really bad plumbers but if a casual handyman can fix my garbage disposal and you said it's burnt out and needs to be replaced there is a definite issue. Anyway they created a new problem, charged me $244 and now won't return my calls regarding a partial refund. Criminals that take advantage of the feeble - do not use.

They're horribly overpriced. They refunded the $45 ultimately. They tried to sell me a hot water heater at 5 times the going rate. The water heaters they installed were $700 - $800. They wanted to charge $2700 because they have a great company that trains everyday. They have an overpriced product. They have a quick and polite response from the owner in the refund of the diagnostic fee.

An adventure with Donnelly. We had a thermostatic valve fail in our shower. We called Donnelly, whom we had used successfully before, and they sent a plumber, Tom, to assess the situation. Tom was unfamiliar with the valve manufacturer and made no attempt to examine the valve. We provided detailed descriptions and drawings, with parts lists, that we had printed from the Internet. He said he would go away and try to find the part. He did not charge us for the visit. After 6 days without response, I called Donnelly. They said no one was available to talk to me and they would have someone call. Eventually, I got a call from the service manager, Joe, who said that he had devoted many hours trying to contact the valve manufacturer and procure the part thought to be necessary. He had not succeeded and was clearly not inclined to continue the effort or work the problem. I then contacted the manufacturer who provided technical details and identified their distributors in our area. The manufacturer was very helpful and indicated that they had not heard from Donnelly. I then called Joe at Donnelly and explained how easy it was for me to do what he, an alleged plumbing professional, was unable to do. He was further upset that I had not ordered the necessary parts when in contact with the manufacturer (a task I had expected the plumber to do). He clearly wanted nothing to do with the job. I agreed that I would contact the parts distributor and work with some other plumber. Joe thought I was being "mean". A lot of wasted time with a monumentally unprofessional organization. Donnelly might be good in writing advertising copy, but they struggle (and sometimes fail) when dealing with a real plumbing job.

It was easy to get an appointment, the dispatcher was pleasant and they came the next day. The technician came out, looked at the AC, looked at the sink set-up and the available parts, quoted 8~900 to fix the AC, another 4~500 to hook up the plumbing, all the while suggesting that we buy new parts from them because the labor will end up costing the same. We paid the $85 diagnostic fee and told him we have to think about the cost as it exceeds our budget.
We got a second quote and they fixed waaaaay under Donnelly's quote\. Not sure if we just got lucky, but you can be sure that we won't trust Donnelly's quote/service from here on out.

Donnelly's has done work on our house before. Last we had a furnace installed in February 2013. At that time the bill was for 8037$ ( yes, 8 thousands, no typo). It was cold and we went with them as they offered to do the job in the same day and had done work in this house in the past. It did feel like they were taking advantage of us, but we had the job done and did not freeze in our home. The retail for the furnace, a Rheem RCBA-6089GG24, is  1125$ (eleven hundred) but delivery time is a few weeks and of course one still need proffesional installation ( it is also possible that other parts, filters were used but I am sure we did not get them at bargain prices, lol). The job was completed in 2-3 hours so the pay for labor was lavish by most standards.

Few days ago our 50 gal Lochinvar vent powered water heater broke. It was installed by Donnely's in 2007 and had a ten year warranty. However the warranty is void due to change in ownership - we bought this house in 2009 ( quite interesting as if changing ownership affects in any way the job). But there is no cure for that - if Donnelly does not want to back it up they won't; they can squirrel away on a technicality so they do. I called them nevertheless to see if they can give a discounted price given our history with them ( also had them do an AC repair job in 2010; again pricey but done promptly and so far without problems). They offered to do the job for about 2800$ or about 2600$ if we got an annual membership for 99$. When pressed for a discount - and named 1500$ as my price the technician, Tom, walked out. I was indeed upset during the discussion, but I remained polite.

I have booked the job with a different contractor found on Angie's list for 1600$ ( 50 gal powered water heater) including 1 year labor and 6 year parts warranty. I will leave the feedback there once they complete the job.

My advice to anybody is to never book a job with Donnelly's until you get another one or 2 offers from competitor(s). We are professionals and understand how businesses work but there is pricing and pricing. Also we understand what asymmetric knowledge is and how a less principled provider can leverage that against his clients. If you have a client and take advantage of him one time, maybe you owe him a favor next time. That's how one builds referrals and return customers. I am thankful that now we have a platform like Angie's list where situations like this can get exposed and people can make an informed choice when buying professionals services.

Tom G. Was the most professional plumber. He explained the process and what my options were when my hot water heater was leaking. He cleaned up after himself. He even helped me with some of the electrical equipment that a clean up company left to dry up the basement. I needed a new hot water heater. I got one with a ten year warranty.
