Bas Hardwood Floors

It went AWFUL!!! Worst contractor we ever hired. Full of lies and excuses .Here is a short story of the year+ I have wasted trying to regain our deposit back from Mr Cox. I have been in contact with the local police, Attorney General's office and the Better Business Bureau. ALL of which have done NOTHING-just letters. We gave him a check for a large sum to procure the hardwood. It's been a year + no floors and no deposit returned. He told the Local Officer our money was spent and didn't have money to return to us. He keeps telling me he will return it , but words without actions are meaningless. And unfortunately this is someone more than 1 Neighbor suggested. You just never know who you are going to hire for a project. If this has happened to your family please reach out to the Attorney General's office about this matter. Power in numbers. I'm aware from 1 other reviewer he has done this before. In November he told us the Brazilian Cherry for our floor would be delivered soon and the installation will begin. On December 5 he claimed the distributor would not have the wood until December 16, and stated he could request a refund from the distributor if that is too late On December 22 he said he had to leave the country for a situation with his family. He indicated he could cancel the order and request a refund. On December 28 he stated the wood order would take another 2 weeks to arrive, at which point we requested to cancel the project for a refund. Late February we reported the incident to local police, who contacted Mr. Cox. At this point we were informed that Mr. Cox did not order the wood and did not have the funds to pay us back. Since then he has only re-iterated claims that he intended to pay us back when his business picks up again. Lawyer's response is just another deadbeat contractor.

We paid a deposit (>$9000) to George to purchase and install new hardwood floors. He took our money and kept making excuses as to why he did not have the floors installed by the date we had agreed. We finally heard from his subcontractor, whom he had not paid for a previous job, that he had taken our money and had not even ordered the wood for the floors. He stopped responding to our requests to refund our deposit. We have filed claims with the Better Business Bureau and the Pennsylvania State Attorney General. I would warn anyone considering working with him to stay away.

Excellent. They did a great job of removing existing carpeting and installing hardwood floors and vinyl flooring. Definitely recommend!

I hired George Cox (BAS Flooring) back in February 2017 to sand, refinish and stain my hardwood floors and two staircases. The floors came out very nice but they damaged a step/tread on a newly installed staircase and failed to patch 3 areas in bedrooms. George told me he would repair/replace the tread that they damaged, patch the missed areas and leave me with the stain color mix so I would have the exact color used. I made the mistake of paying George in full as he has never returned to finish the job as contracted & promised. He has ignored my calls and text messages for months!!!! I DO NOT recommend using BAS Flooring/George Cox. It is a shame because the work they did complete came out really nice & I would recommended him to neighbors, family & friends who all need work done.

I was not here when they started the job, but I was here when they finished it. The person who was here was the owner. He was very polite and nice. The only issue is that I am not fully pleased with them because one part of the wood floor was redone. I am not happy with the colors that have been put. One part is lighter than the others. The liner was good. Now my husband told me that they had informed that it would be lighter in some places. I do not know whose fault that was. The person was polite and good. We called three places for quotes and two of them did not call back. I do not know much about the price. The work itself was good. It is just for the colors and everything else is fine. They were on time and professional. They did a god job. They did give me options for the trim. I wish I could have chosen darker shades. They did inform that it would be lighter.

They did the job quickly, beautifully and professionally. They left the house clean and the floor boards reinstalled with only minor imperfections in some corners. I am pleased with their work and their pricing and have recommended them to friends.

George came out for the estimate within the week I called and gave me the amount it would be that day. We scheduled the work within 2 weeks from when I called to schedule. The guys that came to do the work were late and I had to let them in and stay longer then anticipated. However, they did a great job with a great price! The work looks fantastic and they had a few challanges with how the floor was left from prior do-it-yourself-rs gone wrong. Things ended up taking an extra day because the work started so much later in the day but the final product was worth the wait! Great job!

This was the second time I used BAS and I've been thrilled with their prices and service. They are very professional, clean, and do an amazing job. They know how to handle different types of wood and what can and can't happen. I wouldn't use anyone else.

Calls back and shows up when expected, completed job in a timely manner with great quality.

It went pretty well. The guys showed up on time and completed the work in the time they said. George was responsive to questions I had (had a fridge delivered day after the floors were done and all was ok) and returned all my phone calls. The floor replacement was done well, although I was quoted a price for replacing the whole room ($1198) and they only replaced a portion, maybe a 1/3, of the floor. This was confusing since I think they only replace 20 sq ft but I was given a discount of $210 (apparently the labor was included in the original price).

This is the 2nd house that George has refinished the floors for me this year. We agreed on a start/stop date, and they started and stopped on time. All work was completed per the proposal and there were no surprises, no problems. I gave them the house keys and didn't have to watch over their shoulders. They do a quality job at great prices, which is why they have done work on 2 properties for me and I'll continue to use them in the future as I rehab properties.
