I called my local Leslie's pool store, since they've always been helpful with me for chemicals and balancing pool water. A crew of about 3 men came out to open my pool, which they did. But as they were leaving, the leader told me my motor "needs a part". I bought the house with the pool and I've never taken care of a pool , so I was essentially clueless. The man told me how to take the part off and I should "take it to my local store to get the part". It took me and my father a whole weekend to straighten out this issue. In hindsight, I now know that the man who came out to open my pool should have COME back with the part and fixed it for me. Isn't that what we call a pool service for? This service was not helpful and I found it overpriced for a pool opening/closing. I've since found an excellent locally run company who charges by the size of my pool and doesn't have a blanket price, as Leslies and the other larger pool services do. I would not recommend this company for anyone closing or opening a pool. But they are fine if you just need to take your pool water to get checked.
