We have been enjoying our energy efficient windows now for 6 years. It's so nice to have easy to open (and clean) windows. They make the house look so much nicer too. Recently, we noticed some marks that appeared to be contained in-between the glass layers of our large (~4.5' x 4.5') window that's part of the front bay window. I found my original paperwork from Besco and realized that the windows have a life-time warranty. So, I called Bill (again) at Besco. I explained what was going on and he suggested the window is defective. He immediately ordered a new window. The same two installers arrived to replace that large window. ALL at no charge to me!! I cannot possibly ask for better service and will definitely use and recommend Besco in the future.

We thank you for your continued patronage and look forward to working with you in the future."
1) Worker Anthony sawed-out the flooring to access piping and discarded it. "It is easier and cleaner this way since there is a plastered ceiling below the floor" he told me. As a complete job, Mr. Cimino, the salesman, certainly expected there was rot across most of the entire floor. In fact only one sheet of plywood was used and a little stick lumber. Extra charge $425!
2) The Moen shower requires leveling supports and squaring to the room. This is detailed in the bid. Extra Charge $320!
3) After two months, we chose a Linoleum style from his book, no additional money mentioned. Extra Charge $200!
4) After cutting the tiled wall with a saws-all to install the 34" door, a few tile fell off. The tile had to be cut to width anyway. Same at air duct and border with shower. Instead of a machine re-grout, he "scratched" the seams and re-grouted the 3-half-walls of tile. It was in the bid. Extra Charge $171!
5) Anthony took-off 9-work days to plow and sand for his customers, leaving us hanging. During one incident, Jim called and said that Anthony will be "sick" for two days before a major storm. No regard for the dust and filth in our home!
6) Joe had looked squarely at my wife and promised "a two week job and you will have your shower on the second evening". We had no shower for 8-days and finally went to a motel. The BESCO response was "Get that receipt to us!" We should have gone for all eight days and charged them. We had misplaced loyalty because Bill, the window man, who did $40,000 worth of work here since 2008, (when we could work), had always been on time and held to his bids.
7) The web site claims "30 employees, NO SUBS. In fact, a sub "painter" did a terrible job, which was sanded-off and he came back to paint it again! The job is barely adequate.
8) Jim brought a cheap light fixture and Med cabinet and I protested that we paid extra for the right ones. I had a diabetic attack and laid down. Upon rising, he had installed the particle board med cabinet and cheap light. After complaining, they came back and corrected the cabinet. We purchased the light fixture!.
8) After two weeks of calls and e-mails demanding a final bill, BESCO finally billed us an extra $1,084, beyond the shower chair, med cabinet and Water Wise toilet upcharges which we had signed.
After all that they put us through, they prey upon a disabled couple by inventing "extra" charges on a firm bid job. There are no provisions on the contract for any contingencies. $13.563 is a lot of money for what was bid .The job took over two-months, not the promised "two weeks" to complete. My wife became ill because she had to wait 8-days for the motel shower.
Their treatment of a senior, disabled, loyal customers is outrageous. We live our lives without any debt. To have our final payment "applied" to our account is criminal!
They have "A" because of their window crew. This bathroom work, under different people, is sickening. We demand an immediate credit for the $1,084 which was pulled from the air. They must live-up to their firm bids! I had also requested an apology but the credit will have to suffice.
Update as of 7/28/2015: we have never resolved the additional money this company is trying to get me to pay, which I still maintain is unjustified. Now we are running into a quality issue: the floor squeaks, and it will always squeak. The reason for this is because they didn?t screw down the oak flooring over the subfloor prior to installing the linoleum. This means when you stand in front of the sink, the floor squeaks. Even though this should be covered under the warranty, the company is refusing to come fix the work.
This company is one of the best and most accommodating companies around. It's family owned and they stand behind their work.
I need to point out another instance in fall 2012 where this company rose to the occasion. I had separately bought a sliding glass door from a different well-known local company in Dec 2008, which promptly went out of business. Unfortunately, the door has a leak somewhere causing copious amounts of water to pool onto my kitchen floor during very strong and windy rainstorms, but I've never had it fixed (for money reasons, but also because I tried to file a claim, which was rejected). So, when Superstorm Sandy was going to hit us in late October 2012, I called BESCO for help in tarping the door, and the owner himself brought an installer out after it had started raining and tarped the door for me at no cost (in the driving rain!!!). They even refused the bottles of wine I offered for them (which went to good use during the storm). They are SUCH NICE AND HONEST PEOPLE. They really care about their customers, and I have finally asked them to officially schedule a time to come over and help identify why and where the sliding door is leaking, knowing full well that we won't know what it will cost or how extensive the internal damage is (I can virtually guarantee that there is serious structural damage). I trust that they will not overcharge me for fixing a door they never installed.
I truly think these guys are great; their replacement window installation is professional and top quality at a fair price, and their windows were eligible for the 2010 federal tax rebate and were well worth it. The windows have drastically cut down the heat transfer and they are beautiful. They even tilt in for easy cleaning and I paid a little extra for full-length screens so I can pull the top window down. I have a 10 year warranty on labor and lifetime factory warranty on materials. They took away all debris; left nothing on curbside.
I've had failures of two windows since installation. Besco has been quick to replace the problem windows. Very responsible company.
