My buddy referred Kirk Newcomer from TEC to look at my roof. I called because I had a bunch of missing shingles after a big storm and found out that may be covered under my homeowners insurance. Kirk came out today (next day) and did a thorough inspection of my property and while I did have a lot of missing shingles, he felt it did not warrant an insurance claim. But with all the rain we’ve been having he didn’t want to leave the exposed areas open. So he ran to his house, grabbed some materials and came back and patched it up for me. I asked what I owed him and he said “a handshake agreement when the time for a new roof comes, I’m your first call” Wow! Not only did he not want me to file a frivolous insurance claim, he spent an hour or so making some temporary repairs for me. Kirk and TEC WILL BE MY FIRST CALL when I replace my roof.

Mr. Kirk Newcomer, the project manager for TEC roofing has done an amazing job from start to finish with our roof project. He made working with the insurance company and TEC Contractor roofing employees a breeze Mr. Newcomer has an exceptional eye for detail, and even our neighbors commented on the attention to detail that he exhibited after the completion of the project on the day of the build I highly recommend Mr. Newcomer and his company TEC for all your roofing needs.

Christopher is outstanding! Christopher Of the Exterior Company did a superb job of documenting the extensive hail damage and taking pictures and presenting it to Donegal our insurance company. It was so thorough and complete we had a check within 10 days. The written documentation, pictures and images were crystal clear detailing the extensive damage from one end of the roof to the other included damage to: shingles, roof vents, attic vent covers, aluminum down spouts, aluminum gutters, and flashing. Our insurance agent remarked that it was one of the most thorough and complete damage submissions he had ever received. When you call The Exterior Company I would personally request Christopher to assess your hail damage!

This company with its really good reviews has turned out to be a complete disappointment. We had hail damage from a storm in April. I called The Exterior Company (TEC) after receiving a flier and researching their reviews. Melvin responded promptly and started the relationship in a positive way. The home was inspected, the claim filed, and he was responsive to my calls with questions. Insurance company sent funds, but that created several weeks delay because the checks were not made out to the correct parties. That was resolved, and money sent to TEC. In this time the check was cashed, and strangely Melvin started ghosting me. No return calls when I would call to let him know the progress, I was making with getting payment reconciled with the insurance company. There was no follow up for several weeks. I would call, no call back. Finally, I called and had to leave a message stating I needed a follow up or I would take my business elsewhere. In steps Ken and he apologized profusely, made some snide references that Melvin had dropped the ball, and he would come in and save the day. I would be satisfied if it happened. Ken came out and spent at least 90 minutes climbing ladders looking things over. He suggested TEC call our insurance company and push for a whole roof replacement. I was ok with that. I gave him a couple of weeks and didn’t have any update from Ken. I called my insurance company and there was no communication from TEC. I called Ken and told him I didn’t want to wait any longer and to get the work started as originally planned. Ken sounded a bit uncertain but said he would run it by his production team. Let another week go by and no communication from Ken. At this point I was mad. It is now the end of October 2023, and the claim was filed in April 2023. Nothing is happening. Ken went on vacation for 2 weeks and never followed up with us. I called everyone in the company explaining in detail the problems and my frustration with nothing moving forward. The only response I received was an email from Ken’s manager, James, asking how he could help and that he understood I was frustrated with no job being started. What a brilliant question. How could he help? So, in response I gave TEC two choices return the money or start the work as agreed when the estimate was completed. Ken texted me, couldn’t call me, texted..stating TEC would be returning the insurance payment because the roof seemed to have deteriorated and they would be placed in a position of liability if they completed the work as originally agreed upon. The company representatives I have worked with misrepresented themselves. The reasoning to return the money is a lie. If there really was any deterioration it was because these people waited for 7 months to do anything. The simple solution would have been to contact the insurance company and update what needed to be done. I was reassured during the initial contact that this was something they were very good at. They never contacted my insurance company to ask for a roof replacement. They lied. Melvin and Ken are not to be trusted. The reputation that the company is so concerned about as stated on their website and social media sites is a joke. I’m happy to not do business with a company that lies to its customers. Review about their work are pretty good, but there are a fair amount of complaints similar to mine..shame on me for missing those. A reputable company would not have let things linger as they have. A reputable company would do the things that they said they would do. They probably do good work if it gets done, but in my case, it was a complete failure and waste of time. There is no excuse for the lack of communication, integrity, and lack of follow through. I signed their paperwork, and if I didn’t pay they would come after me. If we both sign an agreement then we both abide by it and make changes mutually agreed upon. The insurance payment was returned to me but I had to ask for it.

A friend recommended them after his roof was replaced due to hail damage. Jordan Herr checked our roof and found some damage and worked with our insurance company to confirm and get us payment. They did a great job! Jordan was always accessible, informative and helpful. We decided to get some gutter and fascia work done at the same time. He also coordinated with PECO to remove electrical wires attached to fascia so work could be done. The roof was done in a day and gutters shortly after. We are very happy with the results.

I contracted with TEC to re-roof / shingle my house and they were fantastic! My contact person was Mike Lazorik. Mike was friendly, easy to get along with, honest, upfront and always returned calls or text messages promptly. When the TEC team arrived at my house to do the roof they were very professional. The did a great job cleaning up and leaving my property clean and neat after the job. When the work was complete Mike came out on a Sunday because that was the only day we could meet to make sure that were were satisfied with the work and to show us how the newly installed skylights worked. I am very happy with the new roof. I have had no problems and I would hire TEC again. I highly recommend them. Rich P.

We had hail damage at our house in Pennsylvania. TEC has helped us with the insurance company and has been very knowledgeable. We worked with JT King and he has been very professional. He answered all of our questions and kept us informed about the procedure and time table. He gave us his personal phone number, 717-606-3133 so that he could answer any questions that arose. We could not have had a better solution to our roofing problem.

Really impressed by the affability of their project managers. We worked with 2, James Lilly and Josiah Tucker, both of whom were super friendly and patient with me and my crew of little ones in a chaotic environment. Josiah also made sure that every single nail was picked up with the magnet sweeps after installation because we are a house with many small children. The only think I would change is that, day-of, the install crew that came out decided to do the whole thing in one day (till 7:30pm) instead of stopping at 3/4pm as I was previously told. They did so because we had SO much rain that month and it was going to rain again the following day. I 100% agree with the decision to make that change, but I would've liked to have had someone from the subcontracted work crew tell me that was what was going on right at the start. I brought my kids back too early, causing some added stress, and it messed up our bedtime routine. Would still highly recommend them to anyone and am very pleased with the process, the work that was done, and our beautiful new 50-year shingles! Total Replacement Cost: $12,119.14 Potential Recoverable Depreciation: $5187.25

"We had a hail storm and did not realize the extent of the damage to our roof, siding, and gutters. We would not have made a claim for all the proper repairs to be done had the TEC Company not pointed out the extensive underlying and other visible damage to us that we had overlooked. The insurance company readily agreed and paid for all the repairs to be done. Jon Nalewak handled EVERYTHING for us and walked us through all the required paperwork such as proof of insurance, lien waiver, etc to make the insurance company pay and the mortgage company satisfied. We could not have figured all this out without the help of TEC. The siding, roof, and gutters were done quickly to our exact specifications. The cleanup was impressive and the job was done quickly by polite, hard-working crews that clearly knew what they were doing. I highly recommend TEC."

TEC provided high quality of service with open communication from the beginning process all the way until the end with clean up and removal. This was the first time we had a home owners claim and Dave and his team made the process operate very efficiently and effectively. After we came home from vacation we noticed yard signs popping up all over the neighborhood. One of them was my neighbor who filled me in on the hail storms we had while we were away. I called TEC and did not receive a response from a Project manager at first, but I think this was to be expected with all the damage we had in the area. I called back a second time and they apologized with the explanation that they have been swamped with calls, which is what I suspected. A project manager reached out to me within hours of the second call and a third call shortly thereafter. They showed that they did care about my inquiry and wanted my business. From that point, the process was pretty simple. Tyler was great and was familiar with my insurance adjuster. The appointments were set up pretty quickly to review the damage and I was cut a check from my insurance adjuster right away. TEC had scheduled our roof replacement for September 8th-9th, but when we told them we had a birthday party scheduled that weekend, they were understanding and changed their schedule to match ours. They came the morning of the 11th and had the roof on the same day. There was some cleanup the next day and they did a pretty good job of cleaning up the nails. To date, I have only found one nail, and if you are familiar with other roofer’s work, they usually have plenty of debris left over. TEC did a wonderful job, they were courteous, understanding and professional. I would recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone who needs exterior work done to their home."

TEK replaced our roof and gutters from a hail storm. They helped us through the insurance process and were very helpful. Everything was installed without issue and completed in a day! No mess was left behind and it looks great.

Our entire roof which is very steep was completed in only one day. There was one issue that came up during the build and The Exterior Company had someone out that evening to evaluate the damage and schedule a repair.

Highly recommend TEC, specifically Project Manager Yosef Kamil. Yosef and TEC were professional in all aspects...from start to finish. Anytime I had a question or possible concern, Yosef responded almost immediately and addressed all questions. Our new roof looks fantastic and I would not hesitate to use TEC and Yosef again. TEC did a great job- good communication, hard-working crew, thorough cleanup

What was supposed to be a one day job has turned into a 5 day hassle. The subcontractors were the reason for overall good rating instead of excellent rating. Pros: 1. TEC rep was very professional; understanding and made every attempt to correct all the problems. 2. Started on time at 7 am and had the roof completely torn off by 10 am. Job to be completed between 3 and 4 pm. Cons: 1. Dark brown was delivered but almond was ordered. Cause slight delay while TEC rep left to pick up the right colored drip edge. 2. Communication was difficult due to the language barrier. The subcontractor owner was the only crew member that spoke English and he was difficult to understand. TEC rep could not be on sight the entire job. 3. Shingle color was not what was anticipated. Attempted to match the IKO shingles on three year old shed. But the closest that could be used was a Owings Corning product even though GAF's weathered wood was a very close match. TEC rep eventually agreed to replace shed shingles to match new shingles. 4. Only 4 nails were used per shingle on the garage front elevation. During the estimate TEC rep explained that 5-6 nails were required to maintain the manufacturers high wind warranty. 5. With the roofing removed on the first day a rotted spot of sheathing was found near the bottom corner below the fireplace. The roofers cut out the bad section and replaced it with new piece. During my progress my inspection I saw a significant sag at the repair site that could be seen from the ground. When I climbed onto the roof to examine the situation and stepped on the sag it was springy with no support underneath. I crawled into the attic and saw that the roofer had pieced in the sheathing but did not tie it into the trusses. He spliced the repair in between two trusses leaving it dangling with no support. 6. Subcontractor owner and two crew members left in the middle of the first day for several hours to unload shingles at another job site leaving on two people to continue working. Crew left at 7:30 pm. 7. Starter shingles were not used on the outside edges of the rakes. Architectural shingles were used. Sections had to be torn off and problem corrected. 8. Ice shield was not used under the step flashing on the front elevation changes. Sections had to be torn off and problem corrected. 9. Piece of fascia was damaged on front middle elevation. TEC repair replaced only one piece of three piece run. Hopefully will replace other two pieces on day 5. 10. Roofing crew and TEC repair came unannounced on day 4 to replace shed shingles. I was at work and unable to observe which under the circumstances made me angry. 11. Ridge vent removed on shed and not replaced. Only cap shingles were used to cover the two inch wide ridge opening. To be corrected by TEC repair on day 5. I am glad I was home during the project, knew something about roofing and paid close attention during the intro and quote phases. I should have had the subcontractor removed from the project but was patiently willing to work with the TEC rep to correct the problems.
