The work Jim did was amazing! He was professional and creative. Our front yard looks beautiful....better than we could have expected. We will be hiring him to do phase 2 and 3 next summer!

We had an ambitious plan of re-landscaping our yard after the removal of a very large tree (due to disease). Jim immediately broke the news that what I wanted would not be in our budget; however he drew a plan that incorporated some existing features and made things work. I was concerned about drainage and water flow problems, and when Jim’s original idea for that did not look feasible; he adjusted his plan and installed a French drain that, hopefully, will solve our runoff issues. (Only had one big rain since the re-grading.) The new tree that Jim planted along with some shrubs and flowers all appear to be healthy and are larger than I expected. The final result certainly met my expectations.
Jim responded to my original inquiry immediately and came right out. He said the work would take a week. A week? No way! But on the Friday after they started work, the digging was done; flagstones, boulders, plants, and mulch installed; and the seed truck was rolling away. I’ve had experience with contractors who start a project, then disappear for days on end, stretching things out seemingly forever. This was NOT the case here. We really stretched and spent more than we originally planned. But we were heartbroken after having to remove our huge oak and the outcome is just lovely. This beautiful new outdoor space is easing the sadness over the loss of our tree. So far, we have no regrets about the splurge and the quality of the work done.

Jim's Landscaping was the only company that responed in a timely manner and gave us a design option within 24 hrs. We had a patio completed as well which we used a contractor suggested by Jim and the did a fantastic job as well. All in all it was a great project and we are completely satisfied.

When it was time to consider a major make-over of the front and one side yard, my first call (and only call, as it turned out) was to Jim's Landscaping, whose work I had seen and admired over many years. During our first meeting as we walked around the property, I explained my needs and wants, which included: rethinking the front yard, removing certain plants/trees/shrubs, creating screening between my property and a back yard street view and an adjacent property, as well as addressing the problem of drainage from my property onto my neighbor's property (into their basement). I wanted the end result to be low maintenance, interesting, aesthetically pleasing, and to include flowering varieties.
Jim returned a proposal within a week. It included a blueprint of the property, which showed keeper-plants and his proposed plants/trees/shrubs. He also had a plant list with the per plant cost and the number of each plant/tree/shrub to be used, a detailed invoice that included labor, plant/tree/shrub removal, mulch, boulders, etc. and total cost. It was very clear that he'd listened well and understood what I was looking for, and I was really pleased with most everything he proposed, including what I thought was a fair price. Actually, I was relieved and excited, and decided that I wasn't going to look any further for another landscaper!
He was open to making some small additions and substitutions and re -drew the proposal. The boulders were part of a brilliant solution to the drainage issue (along with combining and rerouting a down spout and the sump pump outflow to an unusual French drain); Jim carried the boulders through to the beds (but not too many of them).
I definitely recommend Jim's Landscaping Co. Jim was easy to work with, tidy, and punctual (but, being Spring, several days had to defer to Mother Nature). The plants he provided were healthy and of an already acceptable balled size so as not to look puny. I was never exactly sure when the job would be finished but that was made clear when I came home from work one day and found that all beds were edged and mulched and all equipment had been removed - and the yard looked simply beautiful! Many neighbors and dog walkers have noticed and admired his work.

The landscaping is beautiful. Jim does a really nice job. He has definitely fulfilled his promise to fulfill his warrantee. It was over the summer that things were growing and so forth but a lot of things died and we were trying to figure out why. I called him and he came back. He responded. He took all the plants out that died and he replaced some. He told us that perhaps we had a water drainage problem that we would have to address. He didn't bat an eye. He said that is what he told us he would do and he said that's what he would do. He really took care of us. He is expensive, but you know that up front and you know you are getting the quality landscape design that you are expecting.
