Home Building
After multiple foreman for the build it was completed. Neighborhood not as advertised in their images. HVAC failed 6 months in. Multiple (4) leaks, HVAC failed again, neighbors have had water damage due to leaks other neighbor has had HVAC fail. All within 5 years. Perception is that Charter Homes did not deliver as advertised. They are out to sell homes and then not back them. I have seen a constant change of subcontractors (most of which drive unmarked vehicles) and my favorite is the multiple shades / colors of concrete sidewalks. Zero quality control. Zero out of five. Would not recommend.

We viewed many new home developments and builders and found a lot and home design that worked for us. We hadfun choosing the options for our home and watching it go up but there were a few changes that we identified before the ground was broken that they refused to even address. After multiple attempts to change the flooring in one room and the appliances, both of which are the last things to go in the home, we were left voiceless and were repeatedly dismissed. The home was completed on time and our builder was wonderful to work with. The corporate office and management on the otehr hand had no intention of honestly listening to our concerns and fixing something that could have easily been resolved and would have been a win - win for everyone.

We built a home with Charter in the spring of 2011.  During the entire build process, Charter was fantastic.  They were responsive, attentive, professional, helpful: everything you would want in a builder.  The neighborhood manager was outstanding, as were the interior decorator and the construction manager.  We are thrilled with the quality and value of our home.  It's gorgeous and Charter really seems to understand what modern families want in a home.  They have a wide variety of floorplans and options from which to choose, truly something for everyone.
And now for the negative point, the service after the sale.  Charter provides a one year home warranty.  New owners have a 45 day walk through and an 11 month walk through to address any problematic issues with the home.  Seems very generous, right?  But the Home Care Manager is nearly impossible to get ahold of which leads one to believe that Charter wants to SELL you a home, but they don't much care about what happens after that point.  It takes multiple emails and phone calls to get anyone's attention.  I have long since stopped assuming that anyone will show up to my home at the stated time and you can guarantee that only about half of the promised repairs will get completed on the first visit.  Clearly Charter does not employee enough people to function in the role of care manager and they don't seem to grasp the damage that this lack of responsiveness does to their reputation.  Calls to supervisors go unanswered.  Not even a letter to the Charter president garnered a response.  I should also add that NONE of the repairs needed to our home are major.  All of them could be handled fairly quickly and easily.  But calls, emails and letters go unanswered.  I previously wrote a glowing review of Charter but this recent turn of events turned a positive building process into a very negative experience, calling Charter's reputation and integrity into question.
