When I picked up the car, the charge/alternator light was on and would not turn off. He earlier referred to spraying the engine with water to remove coolant, but apparently did not put a bag over this item, which I was taught to do in mechanic's school. This was Friday evening. Sunday morning there was a message that the alternator was blown, but he replaced it with a rebuilt one at no charge.
This was very good to know that if there was a mistake or problem, it was taken care of as best as possible with no "it was old and was ready to go, anyway." In this case, the car had 117,000 miles on it, so it was not implausible. He also worked on Saturday to diagnose and repair the item.
I think a good measure of someone is what they do when something goes wrong, or they make a mistake. I would not hesitate to let him work on my vehicle again.
