Initially things went well, we started with a small powder room. So we continued to the 2 bathrooms upstairs. We had discussed time frame for the projects and when we'd like to have things completed. We were given the estimated time it would take items to arrive. We spent many hours in the showroom selecting materials. We finalized the plans for the master bath first since this was the room that needed completed first for logistical reasons. We received the typed estimate dated 7/5/13, expecting to start the project in 1 month allowing plenty of time for delivery of all the items. In the mean time we selected all of the items for the second bathroom so that once the first was completed our contractors could move on to the next. We had the estimate with all detailed items for the second bath on July 19. The communications all documented through email were that all items were to be ordered. We paid 50% of the invoices upfront and the balance once everything had been delivered. Once the project started we found that things were not ordered on-time and would not be arriving on-time.
One of the main issues came about when we received a custom ordered item for the shower border. We received a double order. When I asked why she (Fran) ordered 2 pieces of stone she stated it was in case our contractor messed up the first piece. She never asked our permission to do this and then told us since it was a custom order it was not returnable but that we should find another use for the piece. $400 piece of stone. We donated it. What are we going to do with it. WASTE.
We had ordered all the bathroom plumbing fixtures again paying a deposit only to find out that she had NOT placed the order. I cancelled the order with her and ordered through her competitor at a much better price and quicker delivery. We I had called Fran regarding this order and told her I was going to change my order, she said she couldn't believe that " I was getting cheap now". At that point my husband took over the dealings with Fran so that we could try and get our project finished.
I joined Angie's List just to be able to do a review on this part of Holod's. We were told we received discounts but that wasn't true, the mark-ups were tremendous. When the shower glass people came to install and they showed us the invoice to pay, it was HALF the price of what she had charged us.
We learned a valuable lesion.

Jim in the rental dept. could not have been nicer, helping select all the items. Since we were outside of their delivery area we had to pick the items up ourselves - and set the tents up - but the savings were worth it since we had enough people to help out, otherwise it would have been a challenge!

They've become an empire through good work. They're a family company. They have 100's of different types of plants. Their hardware store is extremely well stocked. They are very courteous in helping you find what you're looking for. If I have any question they'll always answer them. They give great advice. My fiance was looking all over the place for a certain plant and finally found it at their facility. It seems like they have everything there that you would need.

They know they're stuff at Holods!
