In the meantime I contacted another company, APM Masonry & Construction. They came, inspected and gave me an estimate of $6800.
Mazzi did the job fo $700. They are very honest and professional people. I will use them again and recommend to anyone.
I purchased the $99.00 Deal because of the work I needed done to my aluminum siding piece.
Everything went as planned. Jim came out to perform the job. He was very professional and knowledgeable and performed the job that needed to be done. I would use Mazzi Contractors again for future jobs.We made a decision to go with Mazzi contractors due to longevity of their business, and the quality of their work from references we contacted. What surprised me most was the speed in getting this job done. It was completed in 3 full days, the roof and gutters. This was amazing to us because a neighbor down the street had roofing work done by a different roofing company that took 3 months.
The roofers from Mazzi contractors that came to my home were polite and efficient. There was no loud music playing from the trucks. There were quiet. When the job was completed the debris that fell was cleaned up swiftly. A metal sweeper was passed over our lawn to pick up any loose nails. The roof & gutters look beautiful ! It is almost too good to believe that it went this easy.
I hope any new future home improvement projects we may encounter will go as smoothly. I highly recommend MAZZI Contractors. The pricing was very competitive. I am a believer in you get what you pay for. Plus, go with someone who knows the business well.
Hope this helps someone.
I came home and saw that caulking were applied in places where it would help to prevent water seepage around the windows. I cannot attest to other places where work was done since I cannot climb up. Meant to call back to ask but I have not yet gotten time to.
I feel that the overall experience was good and fair service rendered.
"An appointment was scheduled on 5-6-13 with the customer who gave us a detailed discription of what she wanted caulked. The problem with her request is that she wanted a $99 coupon good for caulking/siding repair to to be used to address a much more serious issue involving her delapidated porch roof over a garage. We used four tubes of caulk to fill in large gaps throughout her back porch area per her request. The Customer wanted more for her $99 and we even volunteered to return but were not given the opportunity before such an unfair review was submitted. Our record speaks for itself and customer satisfaction is our number one goal."
Once they started, the cleanliness of the site was great. We joked that it was cleaner than we left the house normally. Howard was a machine. He worked hard, made sure his guys did the same, and was very respectful to us. In a contractor, all I ask is for hard work and honesty. He was an A+ in both.
The framing was done quickly, as was the installation of the heating and insulation. The drywall guys worked on a Saturday since there was a delay getting them during the week, and their pace was amazing. Howard installed our doors and gave us some insight on the best product and fit for our home. He wasn't motivated by money and always seemed to do things with our best interest in mind.
The electrician was another great worker - he had done a similar renovation on his own home, and the common project was a benefit since he incorporated certain things (separate switches for lighting, dimmers, tamper proof outlets) that made sense for our family. He was also kept an incredibly clean worksite.
I was less impressed with the siding guy. He worked at a reasonable pace, but we found some nails and debris in the yard. Not small ones either - one nail was probably 12 inches long. He also took a week vacation in the middle and we did not know where he was. Seems like more of a miscommunication than anything else. The shutters also took a long time before installation. This may have just been ordered with others but nonetheless the exterior renovation took a bit longer than expected. The quality of his work was good, and overall these are pretty minor things. Now that the exterior is complete, it really looks great.
The painter was satisfactory. Seemed to work short days and there were some longer gaps between days he came. I may have had unrealistic expectations, but a job that seemed like it could be done in 3-4 days took well over a week. His quality was ok, but he seemed to miss a few things (the trim outside our front door, there is some sloppy work underneath our built in cabinet and around our sink). Again - the quality is fine, but not necessarily at the same standard as the rest of the house. We'll have a few touch ups to do ourself.
All in all, we are extremely please with the project. Outside of some minor delays - which are the nature of the business - we got what we were promised and are living in a comfortable room with our 7 month old son. We will use them for some future work - roof in particular in a few years. These are guys I trusted in my home. When our financing became a major issue, they worked with us and were flexible even though they did not need to be. Very glad we hired Mazzi Contractors.
The siding job was a bit more complicated as it required addressing a few odd issues that had more to do with certain sections of my home, but the guys did a great job and were helpful with a few ideas of their own about how to proceed. Although the siding took significantly longer than the roof due to the nature of the work, we are very happy with the work and quality of materials.
The sliding door was replaced while the siding was being done, but the front door had to be special ordered and was completed on or about November of 2012. The door is absolutely beautiful and the install job was done very well. We were only missing a few small pieces of finishing trim which was completed shortly after the door was installed.
Having completed a fairly large job with Mazzi I feel very comfortable recommending his company for your home needs. In fact, since we completed our work 6 of my neighbors have also contracted with Mazzi.
manner. The pricing was fair and reasonable.
Jim Lido, President, personally handles the business-end and sets up the estimates, call-backs, contracts, scheduling and follow up. The mechanic who did the actual work was prompt and experienced with all the proper tools and ladders. Although he worked alone, he was as quick and efficient as any two man crew.
Work area was thoroughly cleaned up with no debris left behind. Very satisfied with the workmanship, as well as the interaction with Jim. All questions were answered honestly and the willingness to work with me as the homeowner was always evident with no signs of cutting corners or hidden costs. Although I had to ask for the certificate of insurance(not voluntarily offered), it was promptly produced, and the permit with the township was paid by Jim before the work began. In the end, I do believe that Jim and his crews "get it" with respect to homeowners concerns about disreputable contractors and shoddy workmanship. Their tagline - " We treat your home like it's our own" - rings true. I would not hesitate to recommend Mazzi Contractors and I hope they continue to satisfy many more homeowners sorely in need of confidence in their contractor.
Joe Mazzi was friendly, on time, accurate and provided a superior overall solution that beat the competition hands down. Incredibly, Joe and his construction team finished the roofing, skylights and insulation-siding work in a little over one day! His inside 'finishing' work exceeded all of our expecations. Job-site clean up was perfect.
I doubt anybody could provide better service than Mazzi Contractors and we intend to use them again and again. We recommend them whole-heartedly for any homeowner's building project no matter how challenging.
Then the windows. Get call Windows are in, take vacation day from work. Worker shows up, starts taking out a old window and realizes windows he brought were ten inches too short. Has to leave, reschedule and come back.
Mistakes happen, I get that. However issues with both gutter and window projects??
Interesting note, on three occassions, I talked to the owner of the company who said he would do whatever needed to make it right, including taking money off the final bill. Not once did I ask for this, as I just wanted to the work done right, but given the conversation was led to believe that I would see a little taken off the bill. They finished the windows yesterday and as prompt as could be I get a phone call regarding payment. There was no discount, denied ever saying they would take money off, etc.just make the job right. Oh and on top of that, I was told that the price included removal and disposal of the old windows. I wasnt there when the job was finished, but my wife had to "tip$$" the guy to take the old windows. He was just going to leave them and said our trash carrier would take them
Now I guess there is a warranty with all of this. If I have any leaks related to the gutters or window issues, who knows if they will honor.
Shame on me for picking a "random" contractor and not researching.
Please beware
"The member is disappointed we would not reduce the price off his job even further from the discount already provided. The gutters were 2" short according to the member so they were replaced. Unfortunately the manufacturer made an honest mistake on the original windows so we were unable to install them on the date the member took off. Two weeks later the windows were installed and the member expressed his satisfaction to me. We asked for no money down so the day after completion called for payment. At no time did anyone from Mazzi contractors offer the Suplees financial compensation for an honest mistake made by the manufacturer which was quickly rectified. It is sad that the member would complain about two hard working men from South America because their English is not as good as his. The windows and gutters were completed for a very fair price and I'm disappointed the member felt the need to express displeasure because he wanted money taken off."
"member was a pleasure to work for and we had many compliments from neighbors on how beautiful her home turned out. We look forward to working wiyh her again."
