We had about 4 roofing companies come out to quote the job, Everyone had a different suggestion regarding complete roof replacement (we have two flat roof surfaces and 1 pitched) verses repair of existing rubber membrane. Kirk & Sons was middle of the road on price so we went with them. Initially everything went fine. They notified me of some additional damage that would require more work and I was able to verify that with a digital camera they took on the roof. We agreed to the addn'l work and they did their job in the time they said. About 6 months after they completed the work we took in water in our window sill and after some effort on my part they came back out to recaulk areas that were needing attention (flashing I think). Then another few months we noticed our third floor gutter sagging after the snow melted from winter. The more spring rain we got the worse it got. The gutter then started separating from the fascia board. I called and had a really tough time getting Kirk and Sons to respond. When they did they informed me that it was just from a bad winter and that they would replace the material but charge more than $1000. I had another contractor come out and performed the repair. While the pitched roof work was mostly done well and looked nice, the contractor informed us that the roofing material was not secured properly, nor was the right material used for flat roof surfaces, nor was the correct leak guard used. It would appear that when the gutters were installed they were installed onto an already compromised fascia board and because it was not installed properly on top of that it made this issue worse and with the winter the condition quickly deteriorated. Since that time it is clear that the bottom section of the roof (pitched roof) was also not properly installed in one corner. The shingles are not laying properly allowing water to pool up on the shingles instead of emptying into the gutter. We are very disappointed with the overall quality of the work of Kirk & Sons and would not recommend them. On top of everything the owner took a long time to call me back every time I reached out.

Steve was subcontracted by Family Exteriors (Shawn Reid and Mike Shelly).  Steve hired other contractors to work with him.  Neither Steve nor Family Exteriors managed the quality of work.  They did the work over Winter.  When Spring came, my roof leaked.  I paid for DaVinci slate.  It was installed incorrectly so that you could tell it was imitation and not real.  Steve wouldn't come back and fix it.  Capping was supposed to be installed behind gutters and wasn't.  Where it was installed behind gutters they didn't take the gutters down as contracted to install behind them.  Instead they shoved the capping up behind the gutter so that water would drip behind the capping rather than outside it.  Steve came out one day to fix some of the problems, but never returned to fix the rest.  I paid another roofer $3,000 to fix problems and had $4,000 of water damage to a bathroom where leaks came in.  Neither Steve Kirk or Family Exteriors stood behind their work.  I just sat through hurricane Irene. I guess that’s a true test.  There were still some minor leaks around the skylight in my family room.  The 18 month old roof is leaking.

Went on ServiceMaster Inc because I couldn't find anyone in my area. Filled out the form and submitted. Within 1 minute the phone rang. Although he had my name on the request I had to give it to him anyway. Rather then him ask me what the problem was I had to ask if he wanted the details. Seemed pretty knowledgeable and said he would stop by the next day to take a look. No time set up. Got home from work and no estimate in mailbox. Never received a follow-up call regarding their services. Just pretty disappointed and took my job to somewhere else.

I was very satisfied with them. They were very professional. The price was comparable to what the roofers charge. I had other estimates, but they were very professional and I couldn't complain at all about them. They were very respectful. They used a magnetic machine to pick up all the nails if any fell within the garage or any place in the driveway. They came equipped with a bucket kind of a thing to take the old roofing materials and appropriately dispose them. They didn't leave a mess. The workers were very nice. I would recommend them and use them again in the future.
