Chris Chudycki

Chris Chudycki has done a lot of work in this house over the last five years. I asked him to come to paint some new doors which he had installed for us last month. (We were going to do it ourselves, but we got lazy!) Before he came, I had a problem with the drain in my bathroom sink. I figured since he was coming anyway to paint the doors, he could look at the sink, too -- thus saving me a call to a plumber. The painting was perfect and the drain was fixed. As I said, he has done lots of work here. For example, he installed lights in the ceiling, tiled the floor of my screened in porch, installed hardwood floor in my family room, installed laminate flooring in my breakfast room, installed a heated, tile floor in one of our bathrooms, and installed a new home theater system. Besides doing EXCELLENT work, Chris is great about recommending what to purchase. Many times he was able to advise me on what materials would provide me the best value for the money. He was particularly good about knowing which components to buy for the home theater, which saved me a lot of money while still giving me a system that I enjoy every day. (It turns out home theater is one of his passions!) He also has a good eye for design and color. If I am not sure what to pick for a given project, he will usually come up with recommendations that my wife and I will like. (This was helpful when we were not sure what tile would look best on our porch -- and what would work given that there are no windows out there, just screens -- so it can get wet during rains. When he installed a new vanity and fixtures in our bathroom, he made some recommendations that we never would have thought of but that we liked very much.) He has managed some pretty intricate repairs very well. Our cabinets have a hard to find -- and expensive! -- set of hinges. More than once, when we thought we'd would need a new hinge, he would be able to fix the old one. When I could not find the hinges at any of the local stores (Home Depot, Lowes, Sears Hardware), he knew where to go to find exactly what was needed. If I ask him for something and he knows a better way to do it, he lets me know -- which has ended up saving me trouble in the long run. Chris is also excellent about letting me know when something is outside his area of expertise. I asked him about a repair on my lawn tractor. He looked at it and knew that this would require a lawn tractor repair person to fix -- preferably someone with some John Deere experience. If he feels he can't do something perfectly, he does not offer to do it. (This does not happen much; his range of knowledge is pretty broad for home repair and and renovation projects.) Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the level of service I have received. I highly recommend Chris Chudycki.
