Sherry Lynn's Ballroom Dance Center

The studio is owned by Sherry Lynn and her husband, Brian. The instructors are very professional and have a broad knowledge of and expertise in many different dance styles.  For someone just beginning, you might want to start off with a Ballroom Basics(BB) course which consists of lessons in foxtrot, waltz, rumba, cha cha, swing and slow dance.  The cost of BB course is $150 per couple per month and includes a syllabus and dvd of the course as well as free practice time at the studio on Wednesday evenings. The syllabus lists the names of the dance moves/steps you will be learning in each dance and the dvd is very useful in helping you remember how to do those moves/steps. When you first begin learning a dance, the steps can seem overwhelming and the dvd will remind you of what you learned in the class.  The free Wednesday evening practice gives you a chance to practice what you've learned.  If you get stuck, you can get help.

Ballroom Basics I & II ? Foxtrot, Swing, Waltz, Cha Cha, Rumba, Slow Dance
Caribbean Dances ? Bolero, Bossa Nova, Samba
Club Dances ? Salsa, Hustle, Merengue
Rhythm Dances ? Cha Cha, Swing, Rumba
Social Dances ? Jitterbug, Slow Dance, Polka
Smooth Dances ? Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango
Every Friday night there is a Dance Party from 8:15-10:30 or later. Cost is $12.50 per person. Refreshments are served and you have a chance to meet some of the other students.  Special events are held on other occasions, like Halloween and Christmas. Some Friday nights they do special themes for the dance party, like Pirate night. In the past they have done 50's or 60's nights, where you can dress in period clothes, if you wish, and music from the time period is played.
Sherry also makes up routines for engaged couples and/or their bridal party who want to do something special at the wedding.
Aside from their knowledge and expertise, I must mention their patience and good humor in working with all their students. My husband and I having been taking lessons for over 5 years and are now hooked on dancing because of the instruction we have received from Sherry and Brian.  Give it a try! You may get hooked, too!

The lessons are fun and the instructors are incredible!  It is a great way to learn new skills and connect with others! In my case, SherryLynns Ballroom and Dance Studio dance parties are the perfect way to date my husband!!!! Can not wait until the next lesson! we are finishing two full years or has it been three? Time flies when you are having fun!  we are including our teenage son is the next set of lessons!

I have learned so much and its a personally rewarding experience to be a part of this studio.  There is so much offered, we are lucky to have Sherry Lynn's Ballroom Dance Studio in Johnstown.
