Had listened to a local wholesaler about getting someone to do my mother's bathroom. What a mistake in this instance. I couldn't be there when they showed up but my mom was. She figured they knew what they were doing but started to question some of the things they were doing. The one day I was able to stop in and he couldn't figure the best way to install the small tiles attached to a backing fabric in one foot square tiles. The room was small and the pattern needed to be balanced in the room. I had to show him how to balance the tile pattern and where to start in the room so it looked good. The walls of the tub are tiled so there was grout where any of the walls or celling met. Two working light switches turned into two switches with only one functional. Drain that went through the floor for the sink had a bigger hole that you could see from the basement to the bottom of the sink cabinet. Toilet was improperly installed and had to be redone. The hole in the wall where there used to be a large 3 section medicine cabinet he replaced with a smaller mirror only. The wall then had to be replaced and plastered. The drywall was just stuck up with no tape on the seams so it cracked. This had to be redone. It seemed that they would come when it was convenient. They had people they knew that were "sick" that they had to visit before even starting the day or had to leave early. Then they said someone died. So attendance was always a problem.
Description of Work: Total bathroom remodel. New tile flooring, sink, toilet, bath tub, tile on the walls of the tub, and electrical work. On quality,I feel he took too many short cuts. Hole in floor for sink was never closed off. Toilet didn't position against the wall and had about a 2 inch gap we had to put a block of a two by four behind. Replaced a recessed mirror medicine cabinet with a mirror so new plaster and drywall had to be replaced. The wrong thickness of drywall was used and wasn't brought out flush with old section of wall. Then the seams were just mudded over and cracked when dry. He gave me an excuse of how elaborately tedious the floor tile was going to be until I told him how to position it so that it was centered. And the tile around the shower is off center. The sealant he used on corners was the grout instead of silicon.
