Price was comparable to Home Depot so I contracted with Mr. Paros to install my heat/air conditioning. He installed at the beginning of July. He did not finish the job as the heating unit needed connected and being that it was summer he suggested coming back. I was having company the second week in September and I called at the beginning of the 2nd week in September. He called at the end of the week and I was having company and the weather was going to be cold, but I could not have him come the day he called. He came back the next week to finish the job. I was dismayed because my company stayed and the house was cold that weekend. He finished the rest of the work that I asked and I got the bill. The amount for labor was more than I expected. I had a plumber come two years prior and it wasn't as high. He also charged me for a faucet that I purchased with my own money. It was readjusted after I wrote a letter to bring that to his attention.

Price - I had been told by others that these jobs typically range from $3,000 to $7,000. I received 2 estimates for this job. Mr. Paros' was $5,500 - about 70% more than the first estimate. Unfortunately I was scheduling/contracting this job from long distance and although I never met the first plumber that provided an estimate, the contacts that I had with him did not assure me I could rely on him for quality or timely work. In comparison, Mr. Paros struck me as reliable (see below) and had some good ratings on Angie's list. I value quality work and I had a hard deadline to meet in getting this job completed. I thought Mr. Paros would be worth the extra money. The final bill was an extra $300. Mr. Paros said this was to replace a water line that he could not see until he broke through the concrete.
Quality - I was not present while work was being performed. I just saw the completed work last weekend and it looks good enough. The work area looked neat and professional. The work area inside the house was the basement. It was clean except for a small amount of dirt that needed to be swept up. (Not enough to see at a glance but noticeable when I was walking on it barefoot.) The work was required to pass a township inspection and it did pass. The only complaint with the way I found the job site on completion is there were some bushes that had to be removed for digging and they were left laying in front of the house rather than being disposed of.
Responsiveness - Mr. Paros was very responsive. I made numerous phone calls to him throughout the process of getting the estimate, scheduling the job, and getting the inspection certificate. Whenever I called he always either answered or called me back in less than 30 minutes - a marked difference from the other plumber I mentioned above, other plumbers I attempted to get estimates from, and my realtor. He did the things he said he would when he said he would.
Punctuality - Started work on the Monday when he said he would and finished before the end of the week.
Professionalism - Very. See above.

We called him at about 10 pm the previous night when the furnace quit. Said he'd be out the next morning. Arrived at 8:30 am. Assessed the problems, went for parts and replacements and was finished by 1pm.

Mr. Paros and his son arrived and assessed what needed to be done. They worked together to run the waterline from the freezer, through the floor to the waterline in the basement. Mr. Paros then answered the questions and concerns I had about turning off the gas to a heater in the basement and told me how to relight the pilot light.
