I dropped my vehicle off due to a check engine light. I gave Hillside auto a week to repair the issue. They called me in a day to tell me what was wrong & if I agreed to the charges. I agreed. They claimed the Charcoal canister assembly needed replacing at over $400.00 in order to fix the check engine light & a hub bearing assembly, w/studs for $124.95 which wasn't needed but I gave them the go ahead anyway . Two days later I was contacted & was told all is fine please pick up the car. Less than 3 hours after picking up the car, the check engine light was back on. I brought it back immediately & was told to just bring it back to them come time for inspection. At this time two mechanics spoke in garage jargon simultaneously which was confusing & offered to repair the check engine light for additional charges. I found this very unprofessional & a bit intimidating. If you have something simple like an oil change you might want to try theses guys. Anything beyond that I truly suggest you find better mechanics.

You need to be able to trust your mechanic both for quality and fairness. These guys are the best in my opinion. They have treated me fair every single time I have ever dealt with them. Over the years they have gained my absolute trust. I have used them for 5 years now for just about everything. On one occasion they called the dealership because they suspected the issue was still covered under an extended warranty. They gave up a $1,000 plus job because they thought I could get it covered. And they were right.

Very personable and honest. Takes their time and explains what they are doing. Has at least the same if not less prices, better warranty, and do great work.

It went superbly. On one of my spark plugs in my 2003 Subaru Forester, the spark plug holder threads in my engine block were stripped. I was told by another mechanic that I needed to take it to 'an engine shop' to have this work performed. I found Hillside Auto Repair entry on Angie’s List and the name of the owner stirred childhood memories since I grew up on the same block as a family with the same name. Coincidentally, as a teen, I remember the boys of that family - being around my age - always had enviable (hot rod) cars. It’s no stretch that they own an Auto Repair Shop.

So I took a chance and called this shop on a quiet street in Jenkintown. Making the appointment and discussing my concern was easy. Upon dropping off the car, the mechanic explained in GREAT detail, all of the possible scenarios for this particular repair - which in some cases, involves removing the block from the car and placing it on a bench to rethread the sparkplug holders. This could be VERY expensive. Or, in some cases, you can rethread the hole in place by removing a few parts to get to the holder with a special rethreading tool. He told me he'd let me know which way it would go 'once we get in there and see what’s upand quot;. He explained exactly what would need to be done in very clear terms.
So, in the end - the repair could be done in place and didn’t require the removal of the block, but more importantly, the staff is SUPER FRIENDLY, and EXPERT at what they do.
This isn’t a 'drop in and wait' kind of shop. Call ahead and make an appointment, and plan to leave your car there for the day, but it is totally worth the additional steps because you get QUALITY service, from a group of very skilled and immediately likeable professionals.

They did the work promptly, finishing 3 days after the original
transmission failed. I have been going to Hillside for both of our
family cars for 2 1/2 years and can't say enough about their
consumer-friendly approach, the quality of their work, and the price of
their work. They are excellent mechanics. The work I've had done by
them has included basic maintenance and problems that have needed to be
troubleshooted. I've had brakes replaced, electrical problems diagnosed
and corrected, and had detailed work on one of the cylinders in our '99
Camry all with great outcomes at a good price.

They were professional in their work and attitudes. When I brought the car in later in the week to have a tire leak checked they did a thorough job, having agreed to look at the tire right on the spot. I was very happy with the work they did and the attitude they had toward me as a customer.

They do all of my inspections and anything else my car needs. I have been going here since 2002. They are very honest and do not try to take your money. A lot of the people in my condo use them. They are really good. Two brothers own the small shop and you have to call for an appointment.
