The old crumbling plaster walls in the room were replaced with sheet rock and left a large gap between the wall where the
flooring ended, much wider than any standard baseboard. With our budget in mind, Mike "built out" the wood on the top and bottom and glued and sanded it so you couldn't even tell there were two pieces of wood. When attached to the wall, the gap disappeared. It was a perfect fix. If we had the budget, we would have had Mike simply make matching woodwork in the correct thickness. But with our budget in mind, Mike came up with this creative and thoughful solution.
In the areas where sections of old wood were missing, he recreated the exact size and profile of 115 year old molding and
installed it in seamlessly. It is exact and perfect. He also made a rounded piece of shoe molding to finish off the woodwork on a round wall.
If you dream it he can make it. He's an excellent woodworker, precise and deliberate. His attention to detail is incredible and
the quality of work is clear in the finished product. I've seen other items of furniture he's made and they are built beautifully and built to last.
We have plans for Mike to build a claw foot tub surround and step for the bathroom and to have him build the cabinets and
island for the kitchen.
