"Thank you so much for taking the time to review us and how hard we all work here to make sure everybody is satisfied!"
Our experience was extremely positive! Starting with communicating with Gregg our interests and desires, we felt like he wanted our business and was willing to go out of his way to help us realize what was possible (and what wasn't, which is an equally important job!). We went back and forth for a very long time, and Gregg and Susan were both extremely helpful and patient. Communication via e-mail was excellent, and this is very important when there are so many things to consider.
Once the actual job started, everything went quite well with only minor hiccoughs. We had only minor complaints related to the team not initially putting up plastic at the openings of the room, but it was a simple oversight that was not a continued issue. The project did take 10 weeks, longer than estimated, but, again, this is a very small complaint considering everything else went so well and I'm aware that the project going over the holidays added to that, as well as some issues that had to be dealt with that weren't originally realized (like a cement slab between two rooms). Greg and Sue ended up getting us a whole house cleaner due to the extra level of dust (the hard wood floor sander also didn't put up plastic), and were kind and courteous to my minor complaint.
The team we worked with for the demolition and installation (Tim, Rich and Richard) were absolutely amazing, and I would highly recommend them for any project. They were courteous, thoughtful, and precise. They cleaned up after themselves as much as possible every day, asked for opinions as often as needed, and answered the numerous questions I asked throughout each week. They were extremely knowledgable.
The work they have done is great, and they have remained available for any slight changes/questions even weeks after the project was completed. One of the cabinet doors was warped, and it was replaced by Rich a few weeks after the project finished. We will absolutely be using them in the future for additional projects.
We were recommended to Gregg and Susan Simmen by a friend. We were originally going to just have new ceramic tile installed but after an initial visit to our home by Gregg, we decided to use Sentrel. It looks great and is easy to clean plus it won't mildew. I was a little skeptical at first but I'm really glad this is what we chose. We were going to have ACR install fixtures that we bought from Lowe's. Gregg explained the quality differences between different products and we opted for a Kohler fixture after a visit to their showroom in Jeannette.
Two workers performed all the labor. The hauled away all their trash and were very polite. We even had them working in our house while we were away. The installation exceeded our expectations and took one and a half days to complete.
When it comes to home repairs and maintenance, my wife and I are ignorant. Gregg and Susan had a lot of patience dealing with us. My wife and I envisioned the bathroom being done differently but they brought us together. I would use them again and when we are ready to do another bathroom or kitchen, they will be at the top of our list.
remolded was in desperate need of a makeover. Over all the work was good and I
like the end results. But as they say
the devil is in the details. I had to
totally clean the new bathroom before we could use it. They installed a tile
floor so the door had to be sanded down.
They left dirt all over the door, and wall. They were to paint the door
as well. They painted the door but left
dirty hand prints on the back of it. I
had to wash down the newly painted walls and door. . They ordered the wrong mirror so we had to
wait 3 weeks before the new mirror came in.
When they took the wrong mirror down it left holes in the wall. The plaster came back and filled some of
the holes and left plaster on the new counter top and was on the tile baseboard. When they installed the toilet, it was not
done correctly the first time and it flooded my kitchen. And I
should mention that Absolute Construction remolded a bathroom in our rental
house and they flooded that bathroom too.
This one was due to a line blowing on the tub.
They were to order a new roller for the vanity. The drawer is harder than ever to open. I have
a kitchen and a third bathroom to remodel and I do not think that I will use
Absolute again because of the clean up work I had after they left.
"[removed member names] - Thank you for the feedback regarding your bathroom project. As you know Absolute Construction And Remodeling is a small family owned company and we work hard to satisfy each and every customer. I was shocked and disappointed when notified of your review comments since we were not notified of any remaining issues with the project and would have appreciated the opportunity to correct any issues in advance. We agree that this bathroom remodel project did not go as planned. There were a few issues that arose and were addressed quickly with as little disruption to you and your husband. We spoke with your husband very frequently regarding all of the issues that arose and kept him up to date with the schedule. Your husband indicated each time that he understood that “things happen” and was accepting. The shower head arrived in the wrong finish – we placed a temporary head in its place until correct head arrived. Yes, we did not make provisions for the recessed cabinet – that employee was let go and we quickly ordered and installed the correct cabinet and we left a mirror in place for you to use. The sink bowl was damaged and cracked during installation due to an error with the granite clips, but we quickly had another sink bowl overnighted and received and installed the very next day. As far as cleaning the guys do leave the project clean each day and upon final completion and inspection of the bathroom a final clean is made for use. This was not done since we were returning to install the defective drawer slides once we received from the supplier – this was communicated to your husband. We did call to advise you that the drawer slides did arrive and that we would like to install and were informed 5 days after we left the original message that they had already been replaced along with the final cleaning of the bathroom. If you were not satisfied with the completion of the bathroom at the time you made the final payment at that time we should have been notified that there were still items that needed to be completed before final payment was rendered. Even after payment was given we said we were coming back with different slides to swap out. The slides were for a shallow depth cabinet and not standard and needed to be ordered. Communication is very important and you could have also called about the handprint on the door to be cleaned. The toilet was installed correctly and it was the shutoff valve that was faulty and replaced immediately."
Overall, we are very pleased with end result! The bathroom looks amazing! It is still hard to believe that beautiful room is our bathroom!
Gregg and Susan even remembered us from a year ago when we had attempted to estimate and schedule a 1 1/2 bath and a basement shower remodel; however, due to Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh (Angie's List Review On 11/5/2012) ripping us off the amount we needed to do the 1 1/2 bath and a basement shower remodel and ultimately never resolving the issue of sewage backing up into the basement (the local municipal authority is who solved that issue for nothing), we knew that we could never afford to get anything done on aesthetic principal alone, but rather any improvements would have to be absolutely necessary....
This bathroom remodel had become absolutely necessary! Although devastated at the monetary loss involved, we also found ourselves ecstatic because we really hated our bathroom and wanted it remodeled anyway. I discovered through an access panel in the ceiling of our pantry that the plywood floor in the second floor bathroom had rotted away around the toilet as I was investigating why the toilet would have leaked so soon after being reset. We liked Gregg from the initial meeting, so we decided to call him back to do an estimate of just the second floor bathroom and set up an appointment with Sue to get the details sorted out.
Within a few weeks, ground was broken and the bathroom was taken down to the studs and to the floor joists. Goodbye ugly tile! Goodbye paper thin plywood floor with large gaping hole! Goodbye! Three weeks later, a new room was built - our bathroom.
My husband noticed a problem with the soaker tub, called Greg and Susan, no problem. They immediately ordered and picked up the replacement tub.
The price may seem high but I had two additional bids close to the same price for less work.
We were not disappointed. The work was done on time and actually came in a few hundred dollars UNDER budget! How often does that happen! A kitchen remodel can be a traumatic experience if you have to live thru it each day. ACR really minimized the negative. Each day, the job site was cleaned and there was virtually zero spillover of mess into the rest of our house.
More importantly the work done was first class. Every detail was attended to - from talking us out of our initial cabinet choice (thanks!) to helping us pick the right knobs and handles. He chose top notch materials and the workmanship was exactly what you'd expect from a pro.
We were so impressed with our experience we hired Gregg and Absolute Construction and Remodeling for our basement remodel 6 months later. Again - we were not disappointed. Gregg turned our dirty, unfinished basement full of old boxes into a fully functional space - complete with entertainment center, full bar and a bathroom. The basement has become one of the busiest areas of our home.
We wonder how we ever functioned without it. We have recommended Gregg to a number of friends and will continue to do so.
"Thank you Member! You and your wife were a pleasure to work with. Having customers that know what they want and are realistic in their remodeling goals makes our job and your project results a success. Please contact us for your future remodeling needs."
