PPM Slate Roofing

Great work, and these guys really into old slate! commented many times about the condition of my "green
and grey Vermont slate "roof. An education for me, as I'm into old house stuff - this one's about 100yrs. They recover slate from
demolitions when available.
Don't forget to ask them what else they can do while they're up on the roof..ended up w slate roof tune up inc repainting valleys, a new
section of gutter, new rake aluminum siding, having the peak painted, and chimney repointed! all for around $2500. (Thier initial estimate just for the roof was $1200. Another contractor gave me an estimate of $1400 just fort he rake siding.)
They did spot a divot on the porch roof, but they dont do asphalt shingles.
They also traveled each of the 2 project days from Pennsylvania to Cleveland, Ohio. Surprised me that they were considered local.

The main structure of my house is 175+ years old and has additions with flat rooves-attached prior to my ownership (in the 40s? 50s?60s?) I've had water damage at these junctures before but never in the middle of a room. When that happened, I knew it was time to have the main slate roof looked at. From  start to finish, the two gentlemen from PPM were prompt, thorough and knowledgable. They called the morning after I inquired on line.  They scheduled a time to inspect & quote on the job that was convenient for me in a matter of days.
(I believe it was actually the very next day, too.)  My biggest fear was that I would have to tear off the entire roof and replace it with asphalt shingles. PPM took the time to give me a crash course on slate, explaining how repairs would be done and assuring me that slate is still superior to asphalt.
The repair day was further scheduled promptly, with much respect given to me and my schedule. They arrived early and worked a long, dilligent 12-hour day.  As they communicated with each other on the job, I didn't feel like I was overhearing barroom banter (as has happened with other crews). Over and above their professionalism, both gentlemen were kind.  PPM was very respectful of the yard. As a team of two, they worked efficiently, thoughtfully and carefully. Their time on the roof was quality time, not rushed or hurried, not sloppy. And all the plants around the house were left intact!  They were amazing in every aspect,even removing an old leaf guard that had wedged itself into and clogged a gutter; plus they blocked a gaping hole where critters can get in, at a joint where the flat roof meets the slates (neither of these "while your up there" were included in the quote). Their clean-up was a dream come true, a fact not to be taken for granted.
In short, there are businesses I like to give my money to because of their combined attributes: kind & respectful, knowledgeable & professional, thorough & hard-working.  I have complete confidence in the quality of their work and would use them again in a heartbeat.

PPM workers showed up on time and got right to work.  The job was done quickly and efficiently.  They answered all my questions as I presented them.  Fortunately, the weather was cooperative and the roof was completed within my expectations.  PPM did an excellent job and I love my new roof.  I would highly recommend their work skills and ethics.

I had PPM quote installing new trusses and roof on an existing garage. He was timely during the quoting process which was a competitive bidding process, his quote was lower than the other bidders. I chose him based on pricing and timelyness of the bid. After award he started the next day, he completed the roof in a few days and I was happy with his quality of work.
