He came out right away and gave me an estimate. He gave it the very day I called so it was very good. He's very professional, very straight forward and right to the point. They're good. The guy who came was good, all business.

JPS was prompt in responding to my inquiry and providing an invoice for work to be done. I explained what I wanted and the reason for the change in landscaping. I was assured by the contractor that he knew what I wanted. However, when the landscaping was scheduled, the owner arrived with his workers, then promptly left for the day. It was obvious after talking to the workers that they had no concept of what was to be done, First, they did not plant shrubs in front of two utility meters. When I made them changed this, there were only two small shrubs left for the front. I told them that I would pay for more shrubs, but this did not happen. I am assuming that there was no contact with the owner to approve additional shrubs. Plants in the front of my home were not planted as requested. Also the island was intended to keep traffic from crossing onto the property during inclement weather. It was not placed as I requested, and it does not protect my property as intended. The plants that were installed on the island were unattractive, and they died the first winter. I had to contact JPS three times before they were replaced, as per guarantee for one year after installation. The replacement plants were even less attractive, and I will need to replace them again this year at my own expense. Insufficient amount of mulch was used, and although I added more last year, again the weed block fabric is very noticeable. Another problem. I was surprised when the workers left with quite a bit of unused mulch on the truck, not thinking to check the amount that was used for my landscaping.. The work was done in September, 2012, and I did not write a review with Angies List. I was willing to chalk this up as a bad experience and contact another contractor, if necessary. I saw that Angies List was asking for a review of JPS, and that is the reason that I am writing it now (April 2014). Hopefully this will help another person to be more aware when requesting a landscaping proposal. PS....I was told that an extension would be put on a vent to eliminate a hole - no extension, but I do have a hole in the front landscaping. Also the second replants were put in the ground with 2 inches of roots exposed. I should have done it myself, which I will have to do anyway this spring

He was the most responsive. He educated me, I appreciated that. I thought it what I wanted to do would last forever and he said no. He was fantastic, he did a really good job. The only problem is now the concrete is cracked. I can't blame him for that, we had an awful winter. I put the stuff down that he told me to, but the cold. I guess it didn't give it enough time to set.

So far my grass is very green and weeds decreased. They do five services a year and its $55 a treatment. I don't really have to have any kind of contact with them what so ever. They just come out, fertilize, put the time in the yard and leave me an invoice. I did have a little bit of fungus so I called them, its two days and around, left messages and I still haven't heard back from them. Their responsiveness isn't all that great.

They trimmed, weeded, mulched, edged and planted several small plants to enhance what was already there. It was quite a mess from the prior year, but looks really great now. I am pleased and would recommend them.

JPS Landscape Construction was very open and honest. He was very thorough in the work, very professional, he started when he said he would, cleaned up after himself, it all looks good, and he was helpful. Overall I am very pleased with the service. We have had neighbors looks at it and they said it was a very professional job and we have recommended them to other neighbors. They were not the most expensive, but they were not the cheapest either. The price was adequate for the location and comparable to others. I would say the price was adequate. The quality was absolutely excellent. They are a local company. I was very, very happy. They were very punctual and when they came on a Saturday they even came 10 minutes early. If I had something like this to do again I would absolutely use them.

JPS was very responsive when I contacted them for a quote to treat my yard. They provided an informal quote and when I decided to hire them I received a formal quote and service agreement. The price for service is very reasonable and the first application has my yard looking great. I'm looking forward to seeing how the spring preimmergent reduces the amount of crabgrass in the back yard. Very satisfied at this point.

When I contacted JPS via e-mail (after hours), I got a return phone call early the next morning and the Owner came out later that afternoon. I wasn't 100% sure of what I wanted and needed someone who could make suggestions. He looked things over and seemed to know what he wanted to do quite quickly. That I attribute to his years of experience in the profession. He supplied me with a professionally detailed written estimate a few days later. The final cost was more than I could afford and requested he revise it. He did so and supplied me with another estimate that was still a bit higher than I had originally anticipated, but went with it anyway. To cut costs, he deleted some items from the plant budget. After receiving two other bids, I hired JPS. The workers were at my house by 8:30 a.m. every morning (except for Saturday and Sunday) and started work immediately. I give the workers high marks. They were very friendly and answered my questions. They cleaned up the area well when done and repaired the lawn that was damaged by the bobcat.

However, I came away with a less than desireable overall feeling about the Owner. He wasn't rude, but I got the distinct impression that when I asked questions of him, he was annoyed. He was not very good at communicating what he was going to do in detail and really didn't ask what plants I wanted. I would have liked more communication, but I had to be at work most of the time they were here. I'm hoping that was due to the fact he just knew what would work and not because he didn't like answering to a woman. The job was verbally quoted as taking three days, but ended up taking five, but that wasn't a big deal to me. In the end, the yard looks great (except for where I'm waiting for grass to regrow). If I had known that much of the yard would be torn up, I would have had them use sod instead of reseeding. Overall, I am pleased with the end result and would recommend them to others.

I had gotten other quotes and they were right in the middle. I was very pleased with the work they did and I thought they were good. They showed up on time and they were very professional. I have no problems now and everything seems to be just fine. I would gladly give them a good recommendation and I would hire them again.
