 + -1 moreI'm a new member. Facilities are tired and in need of complete renovation. Men's locker room is dirty to filthy. Trash cans (ALL of them) are overflowing with trash spilling out on the floor. Disinfectant is sparse (other fitness clubs have stations everywhere). Staff is truly friendly but unknowledgeable. FM stations for picking up TV audio do not work anywhere - the staff admitted it never has. Audio & TV controller on all machines does not work and staff says never has. Wow! This place needs new management and staff-training, renovation and cleanliness-training.

Description of Work: Explained to the general manager that I wanted to feel better and get my body in better condition. He did a few test on me, and explained what they provide for each person to achieve their goals. He also explained that they have personal trainers to work with you to help reach your goals at an extra fee. I felt that I didn't need a trainer. And asked them if they could walk me threw some work outs, and after that I would be on my own. That was not a problem with them. The facility is very clean, including the Bathrooms, and all the equipment. Also when I signed up, the general manager waived the enrollment fee, which was great. There is no penalty fee if you want to cancel your contract. You just have to give them a 30 day in advance written cancellation notice. Hours are great., and there are always plenty of equipment to use, and no waiting time. I would definitely recommend this fitness center to a friend. Thanks MZ

 + -1 moreThey are the only ones here so they are getting more crowded. My primary one is the one in Huntingdon Valley, but I also use the one in Warrington and I have been to the one in Bensalem as well, just once though. It gets kind of crowded sometimes. I use it specifically for the pool and sometimes I have to wait to get in the pool, it is that crowded at the Huntingdon Valley. That is why I go to the other ones around. The previous fitness place I used to go has closed but LA Fitness has agreed to honor that membership so to make the crowded situation even more so, but it is just on certain times, from 4 pm to about 9 pm it is really crowded. So I usually go swimming at 5.30 in the morning and even though, there may be seven people in the pool. I don’t find their staff to be very accommodating. It is run by a bunch of kids that are at the desk and honestly, they could care less. They are just around chatting or they are on the cell phones but I have never had a problem. It is the only gym I have ever joined so I guess the price and quality is okay.
Description of Work: I use them for fitness and the swimming pools.

 + -1 moreOverall, LA Fitness has lots of locations, but could care less about its members.
Description of Work: Joined this LA Fitness in October 2004 and was a member for for 7 years. The scale in the men's locker room was broken and never fixed for the entire 7 years, although I reported it broken many times. Nautilus equipment was missing pins for the entire 7 years. As of 2009 when the recession hit, LA fitness began offering new members $0 initiation fee and $29.99 per month. I'd been paying $35.99 for 5 years, but they wouldn't lower my price. Apparently, new customers are more important than existing clients who pay on time every month. The club was consistently out of toilet paper, the bathrooms were usually filthy, and the water fountains had pink bacterial colonies growing on the spigots (this bacteria is found in sewers and makes its way to fountains when the same rags that clean the toilets are used on the drinking fountains). Once you are a member at LA Fitness, they just want to collect your money. They never put a penny into the club. When a stairmaster or treadmill would be reported broken, they would put up an "out of order" sign, but the next day, the sign would be taken down, even though the machine was still broken. Average repair time for a broken machine was 30 to 60 days. Another extremely annoying this was that the janitors vacuum during club hours and totally disregard people working out. I literally had a janitor ram a weight bench I was using 7 times in a row, then when I stood up, he nearly pushed me out of the they way. Running a vacuum should be done when members are not in the club or only if there is a spill when open. All in all, I'd say members come last at LA Fitness. Nearly every cent they collect goes to upper management. They pay their club employees very poorly and could care less about members. Don't join if you don't need to. There are much much better options that are either cheaper or a lot nicer.

 + -1 moreVERY POOR F-. WHEN I CANCELED THEY KEPT A LOT OF MONEY. ALSO KEPT MY $15.00 LEAGUE FEE. THEY CONTINUED TO WITHDRAW FEES FOR A FEW MONTHS AFTER THIS.

 + -1 moreI HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH 2 DIFFERENT PERSONAL TRAINERS WHO WERE EACH VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HELPFUL. EACH OF THE TRAINERS WAS ALWAYS ON-TIME AND PREPARED FOR MY TRAINING SESSIONS AS THEY WERE SCHEDULED. I LEARNED THE CORRECT WAY TO USE ALL EQUIPMENT IN THE GYM AND ALSO SOME FLOOR EXERCISES TO WORK OUT.
