They did a good job.

Eric was our inspector for a house we had under agreement. He was very professional, thorough, and explained everything he was seeing in a way that was easy to understand. He found several issues (problematic) that we would not have known about and were enough of a red flag for us to terminate the agreement of sale. The report was clear and easy to understand with photographs to illustrate everything that was examined.

We have actually utilized First Choice twice during the home search process:  1st in April, then again in July.  Both experiences were great and provided us sufficient information for decison making.
In April, Lew took us through a very thorough home inspection.  We spent approximately 5 hours with Lew going through every inch of the property we were under contract on.  Lew was INCREDIBLY informative and detailed.  He patiently took myself and my husband through every inch and answered questions for us.  He explained what he was looking for an what he liked or didn't like about what he was seeing and layed out building expectations.  Additionally, Lew was sure to call out concerns that were outside the scope of his inspection (pond, swings, pool, etc.).  His written report was delivered timely and was very detailed and provided us more than enough information to decide about our purchase.
A few months later we scheduled a home inspection on a different property.  Lew was unavailable within our contract contingency period so we scheduled our home inspection with Eric.  Eric was thorough as well and took the time to explain not just the condition of what he was finding but also the maintenance needs on the property.  He responded to questions and spent some extra time to check out areas that were particularly concerning to us or that we were unsure of.  Again his written report was delivered timely and included the elements discussed on the day of inspection.

Every aspect of the service was good except for one major failure -- I found out after purchase of the property that the inspector had missed a very large, very obvious area of damage to an exterior wall of the home. I missed it, too, but there was nothing obscuring the area from sight and it absolutely should have been included in the report. As a result I'm out over $2000 for the repairs.

Our inspector's name was Lou and he was fantastic.  We have felt in the past that a home inspection is a waste of money.  Most inspectors charge hundreds of dollars and do a quick sweep of the house and then you move in and discover many problems that need to be addressed and at that point its too late to negotiate with the sellers.  
Not First Choice.  Lou spent 4-5 hrs checking the house with a fine tooth comb.  No details were left unturned.  We finished with a clear picture of safety issues with the house, as well as upcoming repairs.  Lou was very professional and down to earth.  We would recommend him to anyone buying a house!  We would never use anyone, but him in the future.
