Our garage door is metal door that rolls up overhead. It started acting funny and needed an adjustment. I called Apex to set up an appointment for an estimate. I spoke to the guy and clearly stated that I just wanted an estimate. He said he would get back to me. A few days later he called and said "I'm here". Our neighbor (who shares the garage door) let him in and he went ahead and did the adjustment and charged us. The work he did was fine, but I gave a bad rating because he took the liberty of going ahead with the work when I clearly said I wanted an estimate. I don't know if it is a strong arm tactic that forces you to use them. They also charged $225 for a job that I got an estimate for less. I also intended to ask about an Angies list coupon that said $25 off any service. I called to ask if I could deduct the coupon, and the answer was no because the coupon is for commercial jobs. The coupon did not state that anywhere. I went ahead and mailed a check for the whole amount but it left me with a bad feeling, thus the bad review.
- I originally contracted with Apex through a deal on Angie's List to replace a garage door opener for $425.00. Rich came today to do so, but determined that all we really needed was a through lubrication and adjustment versus replacement that would cost a mere $95.00 for the service call. I also asked him to do the same to my 2 other openers which cost an additional $50 each. Total savings was $230.00 not to mention that I didn't have to also replace my keypad connected to this unit and reprogram all of our cars. Great stuff! My appt was scheduled at a time convenient for me within 3 days of my order and Rich was extremely professional. I won't use anyone else in the future for my garage door needs.
