"Thank you for taking the time to write this great review. Especially mentioning; "I've been through the nightmare treadmill of contractors -- you don't know if they'll show up (or when) or if they're doing the job right. You'll never have that worry with Ken." We have been in business a long time and know how many homeowner's have had a bad experience with a contractor. We treat every home as if it were our own. We take pride in our reputation. We appreciate your complimentary review and recommendation. Thank you."

"We’re so thankful that Angie’s List gives the company a chance to respond to the reviews. In this business, you have the opportunity to meet with many homeowner’s. Over 27 years in business, Hess Contractors has built a reputation for quality work and satisfied customers. Unfortunately, there is the rare occasion when you encounter a difficult person. Yes, we did call to cancel the first estimate because Ken worked during the day and became ill on his way to the estimate. She was irritated and wanted to know why we didn’t know this sooner. I explained that Ken (like most people) didn’t plan on being sick - it just happens! She agreed to reschedule the following week. Ken showed up promptly for the estimate. She was interested in having her bathroom remodeled. As she mentioned, she did have other contractors out prior to his visit. She had questions about the information from the other contractors. This is fine but, it’s not practical to keep questioning about the information provided by the other contractors and then challenge the answers in an argumentative manner. Ken was trying to explain to her how we work the job, what the proposal would cover and the procedure for material selections, etc. She questioned everything in a very combative tone. The communication was just not productive. We consider good communication between the homeowner and contractor to be vital for a successful outcome. This is one of the standards that has contributed to Ken (Hess Contractors), winning the Angie’s List Super Service Award for Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling 3 years in a row! That being said, sometimes you just need to know when to walk away. She didn’t like that either. That’s when she “threatened” (her word not ours) to write a bad review on Angie’s List and called him a profanity. She might want to consider the Golden Rule of mankind, (both men and women) “Do (speak) unto others as you would have them do (speak)unto you.” Good Luck with your project."
"Thank you for taking the time to write such a great review. We also appreciate getting to know your extended family from your referrals. We look forward to your next projects. Thank you, Ken & El Hess"
"It has been a pleasure working on the projects at your home. Working together we were able to coordinate and schedule the job in "phases" and stay on track even around the holidays! Thank you for taking the time to write your review and for your business."
"Thank you for taking the time from your busy schedule to write a review for us! We really appreciate your feedback and for mentioning the rare but real-life circumstances that can happen with a remodeling project. Whether it is a homeowner's unforeseen roof leak or a fragile vanity top arriving damaged, these "hiccups" are unfortunate and unplanned. It's much easier to handle the set backs when both parties are understanding and honest! It was a pleasure to work with you and hope we will again in the future."
