Each time I have worked with Front To Back, I have been pleased. They show up when they say, (or they call ahead if need be) I have no problem letting Eric know where my hidden key is to my house. All of their work is done very well.
One day when Eric was over at my house replacing my screens while I was at a funeral out of state, Eric noticed that my upstairs toilet was leaking from a botched repair I had done 10 years earlier. Eric took it upon himself to stop the leak and get the water cleaned up. I eventually decided to have Eric replace the toilet and have him do some drywall repair that was damaged by the leak.
* Update: This report was submitted because an Angie's List representative called me to ask if I would submit a report on this company (The representative typed a summary of what I told him on the phone). I was put on the spot and didn't remember the time frame or the exact cost. I would not have left a report otherwise because I was upset with this project and thought maybe I just had a bad experience and didn't want to turn others away from it. However, now that the report is submitted, I want to update it with more details:
I was mostly upset with this company for two reasons. 1) I work during the day so I left my door open for Front to Back Home Improvement to come in and work on the closet. I was told no one came by my house on one of the days because there was an emergency somewhere else. I didn't mind at all-I'm pretty understanding and I know those things happen. However, later when I got home I saw some of his things that he left the day before were missing and he later told me he actually did come by. That annoys me because I don't like the idea of someone being in my house but saying they weren't. 2) I was given a cost breakdown of the closet install when work began. When I actually looked at it I saw I was being charged something like $350 to paint a tiny closet. I thought that was excessive, so I asked if he would leave the closet unpainted and save myself $350. I was told that the cost breakdown was not what he would actually charge for each individual component of the project. I understand that the whole is not equal to the sum of its parts, but then why give me an itemized breakdown??? He should have a labor cost and then itemize the rest of the items at the amount they are worth! Overall it was very misleading.
"After pulling up this client’s estimate and invoice that was given to her, there are many parts of her comments that prove to be untrue and incomplete in their description. This client’s job was completed last November (2010), not in February or March. This client chose to fill out a report after the job was completed over 13 months ago and has provided inaccurate details. Full detailed estimate was given and approved by the customer before work was started. Full detailed invoice was given after project completion and payment as well. Customer was given an estimate of $2,200.00 and final invoice to customer was $2,150.00 ($50.00 less than the estimated price). After starting the project on day 1 as scheduled, customer came home from work and asked how we could lessen the price after work was already in progress. At no point was the customer ever lied to or given false information. Two parts of the project were left unfinished due to customer’s demands (painting of the closet – for which the $50.00 was taken off the estimate price, and flooring in the closet – which was not included in original estimate and customer at the time did not want completed.) Lastly, after project completion, customer asked contractor to complete another job for her, but when contractor called the following week to set up the work, client did not return phone calls. If this client was never going to use our company again, why would they say that they had other work for us to do? You can see in all other reports that this rating is uncharacteristic and unfair. Front to Back Home Improvements is a full disclosure company that dedicates itself to professionalism and quality work."
"This customer was very easy to work with. She was polite and kind and it is always a great experience having her as a customer. Any contractor would be thrilled to have her as a lifetime client. It was easy getting into contact with her whenever necessary and payment was always in a timely manner. The job went very well and has become one of my most talked about portfolio entries."
