They had a guarantee, and if I wasn't happy closing, they would make my mortgage payment. Not that I needed it, they were very good. They even showed up at the closing.

Overall the performance of Gateway was extremely poor. Phone calls were not returned in a timely manner, or sometimes not at all. An excellent example of this was when I inquired about how much money I would need at closing, but did not receive a response until the day prior. It's not exactly the easiest to get 10,000 on a moment's notice. Also, with every mortgage offered by Gateway, they guarantee a free one time home refinance-this service was NOT provided to me when I returned a year later to refinance. Instead I was mislead by an associate of Gateway (Louis Tulio). Louis is under the gateway umbrella, but not the other mortgage team, so instead of referring me back to the other mortgage company, he proceeded, until I walked away from the deal to refinance with another company. I spoke to the owner/operator of the other mortgage company, in regards to this matter, but he did not take any action. Both Gateway and the mortgage company they worked in conjunction with did not make the process simple in any aspect of the whole financing process. The fact that they operate under both the Gateway and another title is confusing right from the start. I would avoid Gateway in order to finance with a more reputable company.
