DrainXpress Sewer & Drain

I feel I was overcharged. For that price it should have included a camera inspection.

Our utility sink in the basement was backed up, and the problem did not resolve after manually emptying it with buckets, plunging, and snaking ourselves. We called our home warrantee company at 10pm on a Sunday night and they assigned DrainXpress to do the job. We got a live person on the phone Sunday night who told us if we didn't use the water/shower/toilet overnight, it could waiting until the next day, someone would be out between 10-12, and to call back in the morning to confirm. We started calling at 7:30 am, never got a live person on the phone again, left several messages and "pressed star to page this person", and we were called back at about 10:30 am to say they were on their way. They arrived within the originial window (~11am), looked at the problem, and told us they needed to snake the sewer line from the outside. We had some difficulty locating the outside drain (it was hidden in some shrubbery) and they were ready to leave until I begged them not to. At their suggestion, our town's public works office was able to direct us to the drain but I was charged $89 extra dollars to have them take their metal detector out of the truck to assist in the search - even though the drain was exactly where the township said it was, and it was sticking up 6 inches out of the ground. They successfully snaked out the clog from the outside drain but then told me I had a problem that would cost >4500 to fix (the external underground piping was settling and collapsing and thus the waterlevel was rising inside the pipes causing the backup, according to these guys). I had a "second-opinion" plumber (found on Angie's list) come out later in the day, and he said that problem was virtually impossible to diagnose without a videocamera diagnostic test - like doing an endoscopy of the undergound pipes. I ended up paying the $55 for the service call as is customary for the home warrantee, plus the bogus extra $89 for the metal detector, which we didn't even need. I think it would have cost $209 so snake out the clog without the home warrantee.

Very well. Responsive and came out within the week. On time and on budget.

The Technician arrived at the scheduled time gave us an estimate we accepted. The technician came in and snaked the drain to clear heavy roots. He advised us of what should be done to prevent future problems. Before he left he did an excellent job cleaning up the work area, The technician was very mannerly and professional.
