Specialty Window and Door

Rick was very professional and easy to work with in selecting the right windows to replace our old ones. We were concerned that the new windows match the old in profile and color and he came very close. His installers did an excellent job in removing the old windows, installing the new ones, installing matching trim over the old window jambs and cleaning up when they were done. His price was very fair and up to half what others had quoted us for equivalent quality windows. We are very pleased with their service.

I was very happy from our first meeting through the end of the project. I met with several contractors before choosing them. Rick was a breathe of fresh air compared to the other guys. The communication was great. Pricing was great. Product and install was great. I had 19 Soft Lite Imperial LS windows installed (majority were casements). Enthusiastically recommend.

Everyone was great! The windows not only look amazing but are making such a difference in the temperature of my home. The price was very reasonable too.

The owner, Rick Fish, took the time to explain the differences between the 2 doors I was looking at. He did not pressure me in buying anything. He gave me a book and said "take your time". I hate being pressured the day people come out to give estimates. His Installer, Phil, was great. He showed up early, went right to work and cleaned up after installing the door. The door looks awesome! I would hire them both again.

I would rate Specialty Window and Door A+. All communications were timely and thorough. Three men removed our old windows and installed the new ones in a day and a half. Work was clean and rubbish hauled away. People were friendly. The windows are beautiful! A huge improvement.

I could not have asked for a better experience. My wife and I live in an old house with many irregularities-our old windows being among them-but the guys at Specialty did an amazing job of beautifying our house and making everything look more uniform. We had an initial meeting that included measurements and a thorough explanation of the products available with estimates for everything. There was no pressure, or "salesy" talk, only explanations and prices. One of the most appealing aspects of working with Specialty was that I felt I was being educated about windows; if something was more expensive, I was told why and then given a professional opinion on under which conditions certain features were worth spending a little more on...or not. Overall, I believe the information I received was honest and candid, and helped me make the best decisions for my home. As far as the installation process itself, it was fast and professional. Rick the owner was able to source an obscure grid patterned window-style through one of his suppliers, which matches the original look and was exactly what we wanted. Our sliding glass door is a dream, and much more efficient than our old swinging door. The bathroom windows look great and are infinitely better than the plexiglass-hatchet job the former owners of our house left us. Our security door to the basement is sturdy, and as attractive as a taupe security door to a basement can be. It is framed perfectly and lets a lot less wind through in the winter. The crown jewel of our window installation is the expertly installed garden bay. Really beautiful-and we noticed a big difference in our energy bills this winter past. Just yesterday, I called Specialty to do another window in what will become a nursery this Summer. I will use Specialty for every job I ever do.

Rick was punctual and courteous. Pricing was good and the quality of the windows was good. Installation crews did a great job. Good guys who went right to work. Very high quality installation. I would certainly use them again.

The service was fantastic! I appreciated the comparison of certain windows to each other. Their knowledge of manufacturers and window styles helped me make the best choice. The new windows are a considerable improvement to what I had previously! The installers, were prompt, polite and efficient. I would definitely use their services again!

Ray Van Dusen was patient in explaining the windows and the details and the differences in them and the pricing. Then when it came time for scheduling, the owner Rick Fish made sure the installation was done timely for our two tenants. And the installer, re-measured, and did an excellent job in removing, installing and cleaning up. The two front windows are huge from floor to ceiling and look amazing. Not one issue, all went perfectly and both sides of the duplex look AWESOME!!! Thanks guys!!

Gave us a no pressure quote. Was willing to work out a deal on trim color. Good price for SoftLite Windows. Very professional during consultation and install. Placed tarps throughout house and vacuumed to clean up after themselves.

Rick was great. He was on time, his prices were competitive and he really made it easy. I purchased vinyl replacements that he was able to match to the gutter system ( a light brown). He did everything he said he would in the time frame he said he would. When his installer showed up to put them in, he cleaned up after himself!!! And took the old windows with him even though there was a dumpster on the property at the time, which was appreciated because other trades needed it. Of all the things I had done at the property, the windows are by far my favorite addition and Rick was by far, the best contractor on the job. I forgot to order 4 basement windows after the initial visit but Rick somehow got them ordered and installed very quickly and as I was trying to put the house on the market, it was greatly appreciated. He knew my concerns and I think he went over and above to make it happen in the timeframe I needed. He's a very easy guy to talk to and felt extremely comfortable from the first meeting. I will use again and would not hesitate to refer him to friends of mine.

I got 8 estimates from window installers in the greater Pittsburgh area. I even put an installer out because he told me the price was only good for that day. After extensive research, I narrowed my windows down to Imperial LS double pane or triple. I ended going with the double. Upon meeting Rick I really liked him, he was knowledgeable, honest and gave me a good price. The windows arrived approx 3 weeks after down payment. Don the installer called and we set up an appointment. They were on time, efficient, cleaned up and installed 9 windows that are beautiful and the house is warmer. I even went with a color something that I wanted but based on previous estimates didn't think I could afford. I am considering using Rick for future projects. It was a good experience.

Rick was recommended to us by a friend, and the experience with him was absolutely flawless. I visited the Pittsburgh Home show and got in contact with at least 6 Window installers, and actually had 4 come out for an estimate.

Some installers were way overpriced, some sent not-so-well trained sales staff that couldn't answer my detailed questions (I did a lot of online research prior to having a company come in). Rick was the only one who answered all my questions, probably because he has a lot of experience. I also appreciated that the owner came out himself! The price he offered was really good right from the start, lower than the other estimates I already had at this point of time. There was absolutely no sales pressure and we had a coffee and a nice talk.  

I went with the Soft-Lite Timeless Elite window (double-pane with super spacer), since Soft-lite is one of the best manufacturers out there. The installation took 1.5 days, but everything was left super clean, the caulking was done right, and the gaps between window and frame were filled with fiber glass. (Other companies wouldn't put anything in). Very well done, and my old windows got hauled away, too. Believe me, I am very picky/detail oriented, and double checked every installed window for flaws, scratches, caulking errors, etc. Besides some really minor stuff everything was great!

The difference in draft and noise reduction is immense, we had the windows now for over half a year and through the winter month, and we can feel the difference.

Overall, this was a great and very comfortable and flawless experience, I wouldn't go with anyone else.

It turned out just beautiful. My old window had 24 mullions and let in lots of cold air. This window has just 4 vertical panels and my view of the park is even more beautiful than it was before. I was given a price by another company, also listed on Angie's list and that price was close to double what I paid with specialty Winfows. The workers were neat and tidy. I wasn't home when they put in the window so I came home to no mess and a beautiful window. Rick Fish, the company owner, always answered my calls and texts. He is extremely personable and nice to deal with. I would highly recommend this company. Rick is coming back to give me an estimate on more Windows.

All went well except that the original brick exterior openings of the arched windows of my house were uneven and irregular in shape, thus causing the window/trim to not fit the opening properly.  The owner, Rick Fish, 'invented' a solution and came out and completed it himself...excellent customer service.
