It's impossible to separate a review of Hershey Veterinary Hospital from its owner, Dr. Kevin Schengrund.  
So, first considering Kevin, his priority is the health and care of your pet.  Period.  From the moment he steps into the exam room, his focus is on the animal.  You, the person, are treated respectfully, but you're not the most important being in the room.
Kevin takes animals into the back of the office for vaccinations and treatment.  This has always been a great benefit for us because we don't want to see our dogs receive their treatment.  We know they also behave better when they're away from us.  Backroom work is fast and tails are in full wag when they return to the exam room.
We very much feel our healthcare choices are a joint decision with Kevin.  He fully explains all options, recommends that which he deems best and respects our decisions, which coincidentally usually align with Kevin's because we have complete trust in him.  Again, it can't be emphasized too strongly - his concern is all about your pet.  No diagnostic work or treatment is given less than the highest level of scrutiny and effort.    
There are no mixed meanings in communication with Kevin.  He's straightforward, honest and direct, something we very much appreciate.   His "bedside manner" is part of the reason we've been going to Hershey Veterinary Hospital for years.
Prices for services are fair and if there's a rebate or other opportunity to save money, the staff is very helpful about providing information and accommodating.  We've never walked out the door gasping at an invoice, even when both dogs receive same day treatment.
The staff is outstanding and when it comes to scheduling an appointment, you'll never have an issue, especially in an emergency situation.  Kevin even treats patients on Sundays.  An emergency was what caused us to begin going to Hershey Veterinary Hospital.  We'd never before visited and yet Kevin immediately helped our dog.  
The office is always sparkling and tidy, without that chemical smell.
Our dogs are never afraid when they visit the hospital and I can truly say we've never, in nearly nine years, never had a negative experience.  They're our partner in care and love for our dogs and we highly recommend them.

They treated us and our dog with care an compassion. As we really were facing a very bad situation. They helped us understand the treatment options, connected us with oncology care. This Hospital facility and staff are well respected in veterinary circles throughout the country. It HVH the kind of networking necessary to be able to extend specialized care when it's needed. It's the kind of care one would hope for for themselves and by extension our furry family members. The level of care is extraordinary, and unparalleled in our area.

They were expensive. They are easy to talk to. I would liketo get  special feedback for a dog and they always have it when you need it.

My sister took her puppy to Dr Kevin Schengrund because Bella, the puppy was throwing up, not eating and acting sick.. and he was a complete jerk. He yelled at her for bringing a dog infected with parvovirus into his office. He went on about all the time it was going to take to wipe down and sanitize the entire room. She had no idea it was parvovirus. He told her Bella was probably going to die. He lied about how long he spent looking at the dog- 15 minutes is how long he actually spent but he claimed it was over an hour and he also said he checked her lungs which he did not do. He referred her to a specialist and charged over $600.00 for a quick visit and to harass my sister. I will NEVER take a pet to this veterinarian.

We are new the area and needed a new vet. This seemed like a very professionally run office. The vet did a thorough exam of our cat who had upper respiratory symptoms. We had several questions and he seemed to be happy to help us understand what was wrong with our cat. The bill was reasonable compared to the last vet we had been to.

I like Hershey Veterinary Hospital. Their hours are convenient. They're open seven days a week. They have a veterinarian, they groom animals, and you can board your pet there, so, it's a one-stop service, for me.

Responsive and knowledgeable in delivering outstanding care that provided immediate relief to my sick dog. Exceptional on every level.

I switched to this vet after great recs from a friend. So glad I did. I have never had such confidence in a vet. Plus, everyone is so pleasant and never too busy to assist you.

I have 2 dogs. My first dog is 22 blind and deaf. When I called to make the appointment I told the receptionist that I would really prefer to have my first appointment when I brought my older dog on. She said that would be no problem. I also told her that I was willing to what for an appointment. So, when my dog and daughter came to the appointment their were two cats, two smaller dogs, and a bigger dogs. As I was completing the paperwork my dog started to get anxious. So, I took my paperwork, my dog, and my daughter and left. I have never been to such a disorganized animal clinic. I has an appointment in July but I can't remember the exact appointment date since I'm trying to block it from my memory.

I have used them for 16 years. I just referred my son there with his first dog. They are very good at answering questions and providing you with information.

Dr. Schengrund has been our Veterinarian for over 20 years. There was never any hesitation in choosing him again for the care of our new kitty, adopted several months following the death of our beloved cat who lived 19 years. This was more of a routine appointment, however, Dr. Schengrund has treated our new rescue kitty for serious illness, displaying qualities of responsiveness, thoroughness, and compassion.

My pet has had a growth removed, neurological issues (seizures) and two torn ACL's.

Dr was very thorough in explaining what test she recommended and why, and was very clear in helping us understand all of the results.

We are always seen almost immediately and the front desk staff are always friendly and courteous.
Dr. Scheungrund is always friendly and professional, leaving no questions about his competency.
We have been using this business for several years and, although a bit pricey, we are satisfied.

Hershey Animal Hospital was a great experience. We had just moved from the midwest with an 11year old black lab and and 11year old golden retriever. Our pet sitter recommended this vet office to me. There are 7 female vets along with numerous techs. In our short time there we saw 2 vets. They both were very engaging and got right on the floor with my dogs checking them out thoroughly. As you can imagine there are medical problems with this age of dogs and we were no exception. They were always very concious of costs and only made suggestions. There was no pushing into procedures without suggesting maybe a cheaper alternative, maybe not what they thought would be best, but being sensitive to us, the owners.

As far as cost, they were more expensive that the midwest, but not outrageous like where I go here in New Jersey. For what I pay here, they are very reasonable.

In fact when we left PA, I was more sorry to leave my dog's vets than I was my own doctors.

It went extremely well. I have great faith in this veterinarian - he has cared for all my dogs for 10 years and has done exceptionally well for all. He is expert at diagnosis of illness and treatment, and he clearly loves the dogs he cares for. Dr Schengrund is never rushed, and answers all questions. He is gentle and concerned with animals and compassionate with their owners. I cann ot recommend him highly enough.

Dr. Hershey is the only vet there. It’s easy to get an appointment there at a time convenient for myself because he has hours 7 days a week. I can usually get next day surgery because he does surgery five days a week. They get me in if I have an emergency. This summer one of my cats started throwing up and he never threw up after I took him to the hospital. I took him in and we x-rayed him. He strongly recommended that I take him to a specialty hospital. The diagnosis was not as dire as we initially thought. It turned out he had a liver tumor and there was a 50 percent chance that it was cancer. It turned out to be benign. If we had done nothing the tumor would have continued to grow and eventually rupture. It would’ve been a horrific death for him. He does not hesitate to make referrals. I trust him 100 percent when it comes to surgery. I trust him completely and recommend him all the time. I think very highly of him. He is very particular about the staff that he hires. He is very type A and expects type A performance on their part. He hires interns and does everything himself. He goes without an assistant if he doesn’t find one that meets his standards. He went three years without anybody. I have learnt from him on how to look for symptoms in my cat.

They are very good vets. They are close and convenient. I would highly recommend them. I have another vet that I use more just because they come to my house, but it is nice to have two good vets.

Dr. Kevin is very detailed oriented and not afraid to refer your pet to a specialist if needed. Dr. Kevin returns calls promptly. Handles pets well and kindly and gentle.

Hershey Veterinarian Clinic offers quick appointments respond each and every time I call. My dog was having problems for a few days and they were really there for us. I encourage everyone to go to them. You can count on great pet care.
