The project went very smoothly. We really had no problems. The contractors really care about you. They communicated with me and made me feel comfortable around them. Everyday they worked here they let me know what was getting done that day and they always showed me that days work. I really would never find another team like them and I know I will be contacting them for the next few project I need done around the house.

Vanderwalt was the exception. Malcolm and his team listened carefully to what was important to us, our budget, and what I felt I could do on my own and he crafted a proposal based upon my these conversations; the Vanderwalt team did an exceptional job of listening.
After the project was finalized, Vanderwalt took on the permitting aspects, as I had to travel over the holidays. Malcolm quarterbacked the process and got the job started mere days after submission of the permitting materials.
The job went very smoothly, with his team keeping me informed of progress regularly and doing a truly outstanding job of keeping the work site clean and orderly. I never felt once that they were trying to squeeze change orders out of me - the only two change orders were reasonable and clearly outside of the scope of the proposal. In fact, I feel that Malcolm frequently interpreted any vagueness in the proposal or our expectations in a fair and reasonable manner, taking responsibility for them far more often than projecting added expense onto me.
Overall, Vanderwalt delivered a great project, in a very short time frame (bid submittal to project start in a few weeks, final inspection based after less than 4 weeks of work), at a reasonable cost. I would recommend them for any future projects, and plan to have Vanderwalt bid any and every project at my home for the foreseeable future.
