It would take weeks for me to write about all they did and didn't do. The new contractor had to go over EVERYTHING done by High Mountain Construction. The scariest thing was the poor electrical wiring. The new electrician was aghast - he told us we could have had serious problems due to the way the electrical work was done. The saddest thing was we trusted High Mountain. They only showed up 4 (four) times to do any work over about a six week period. If it rained, they never showed up. There was always an excuse as to why they weren't on the job. The biggest job was gutting the bathroom and framing it out. That's about all they were good for and even that had to be re-spackled. In addition to the electrical disaster, the three rows of tile laid were not competently done. The new tile guy had to rip up the 3 rows of tile laid along with a wire mesh on the entire floor. It had to be redone and we had to buy two more boxes of tile. In addition, one wall in the shower had to be removed and replaced because High Mountain didn't make it flush w/the wall. The other nightmare was the plumbing in the tub - we were unaware of a shut-off leak, which they didn't check before they left one day. The leak went through the basement ceiling and caused a whole other problem - we had to have an entire section of the basement ceiling replaced. I just want to put the word out there not to use this contractor for ANY remodeling job. Even though they showed us a portfolio of jobs they completed, offered phone numbers for references and their license checked out, we can only give High Mountain Construction a failing grade. We'd hate to see anyone else have to go through what we did. Our new contractor can confirm all they work he had to RE-DO, as can the tile man and the electrician. I have a running record of the days High Mountain was here AND, I took photographs of what it all looked like BEFORE the new contractors arrived.
