Eastern Propane

I have been a customer for over 15+ years of this propane company through two different business takeovers. CHECK YOUR PRICES ON PROPANE deliveries!!! My last purchase from Eastern, I was charged $5.99/gallon where the lowest price on a customer owned tank was $1.86, the locally average price of $2.337 gallon. Eastern agreed to lower the price to $3.20 gallon but after checking their invoices for the past year, I was charged an average of $4.406 - $2.069 OVER the locally average price. Decided to purchase my tank elsewhere so that I can shop prices. Took one month for Eastern to pick up my tank, another tank and numerous calls to credit for the remaining propane in the tank. When they finally agreed to issue the credit, they charged another $90 pick up fee!! One year of switching from Eastern more than pays for the purchase of my own tank.

So far, deliveries are as expected.

My experience with Eastern Propane has been terrible.  My house is in a community where Eastern worked out a deal with the builder to install underground tanks, as such you are stuck buying from them - and they take full advantage of that fact.  They charge more than the other providers and even though they charge you a maintenance fee, they will try to charge you on top of  that for everything they can.  
Our house was not from the builder, so initially we tried to get tanks from another provider so we would not have to use Eastern.  Eastern politely threatened us - they said that if we didn't buy from them they would take back their underground tank (which I did not care about), and that they would sue us for the cost of the removal.  Since I didn't want to escalate matters, I signed with them.  This was a big mistake.  Apparently, if I had held out I might have been able to get out using this disappointing company.  I would suggest that you do not sign anything with this company. Once they had us signed up, we were subject to inexplicable price jumps, minimum purchase amounts, and annual fees.
Also do not use them for any kind of service.  No matter they may claim, nothing is free - even though they charge you a monthly fee.  If you are already stuck with Eastern Propane because you signed a contract, or they own your tank then I sympathize and I an only suggest that you avoid using their expensive and unreasonable service department.  If, on the other hand, you have a chance to avoid this company, then I would suggest using anybody else.

I am buying through a cooperative through them, the pricing is excellent. So far their service has been excellent. They came and did what they said they would do, when they would do it.

They have always been great. The people are great. I never had a problem with them like never destroyed anything while they are filling in. I would continue using them.
